Story
After a terrible shipwreck near a deserted island, rescue seems impossible for Del, a stowaway street rat; Etenia, a merchant’s daughter; and Lathan, a retired dragon rider—especially when there’s a kraken lurking offshore, hungry for their only possible means of escape: dragon eggs they’re protecting. Yet the kraken answers to the even deadlier Qapira, a forgotten race sleeping deep in the ocean. No setback will stop them now that they’ve awakened. To survive, they must triumph over the people of Pothena, and they will destroy anyone who stands against them.

Enjoyable story and very good narration. Main characters needed to ‘
get over it’ as the whining got tiresome from time to time but I would recommend it

Story
Hell comes to Southern California every October. It rides in on searing Santa Ana winds that blast at near hurricane force, igniting voracious wildfires. Master thief Danny Cole longs for the flames. A tsunami of fire is exactly what he needs to pull off a daring crime and avenge a fallen friend. As the most devastating firestorms in Los Angeles’ history scorch the hills of Malibu, relentless arson investigator Walter Sharpe and his wild card of a new partner, Andrew Walker, a former US marshal, suspect that someone set the massive blazes intentionally, a terrifying means to an unknown end.

I found the original storyline to be a compelling listen but at the same time, a sad example of greed and negligence. I do recommend it though.

Story
Professor Theo Cray is trained to see patterns where others see chaos. So when mutilated bodies found deep in the Montana woods leave the cops searching blindly for clues, Theo sees something they missed. Something unnatural. Something only he can stop. As a computational biologist, Theo is more familiar with digital code and microbes than the dark arts of forensic sleuthing.

Great narration and the story keeps moving at a fast pace. I think you should listen to the first story to grasp the personal connections. Otherwise the ply between the characters may seem contrived.

When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Librarian Sylvia Ashe knows nothing about her past, having grown up without a father and a mother who refused to discuss him. When she stumbles upon a diary that suggests she's descended from magicians, she's skeptical. After all, magicians are special, and she's just an ordinary woman who loves books. She seeks answers from a member of the most prominent family of magicians, but she quickly learns that finding the truth won't be easy, especially when he turns out to be as artless as her, and more compelling and dangerous than books.

Poor quality recording
Reviewed: 09-11-22
While I was interested in hearing the story, the recording is poor quality. The first word or syllable of almost every sentence is clipped so I find myslef wondering what the first word was rather than listening to the rest of the sentence. It is not unlistenable, but too distracting for me to enjoy the story. I returned it.

Story
Death is a topic Bradford Douglas is intimately familiar with. The young attorney is on a crusade against capital punishment. He’s saved a number of death row inmates, but none of his cases has been as tough as the one he now faces: Henry Combs, a vicious serial killer, has only hours to live when Douglas is summoned for a Hail Mary attempt to have the man’s sentence commuted to life imprisonment. As Douglas races to pursue whatever strategies he can think of, he finds his passion for justice giving way to something altogether different. An obsession.
