Very creative way to write about this celebrity couple using a made up character as the narrator. This allowed the "voice" of Rita Hayworth to be equal to that of Orson Welles, no mean feat! Narrator needed to pronounce words correctly.

A fictional story about one of the world's most famous paintings told in such realistic detail as to be a biography rather than fiction. Very well written and read.

Anthony Fauci is my hero

I first heard the name, Anthony Fauci, with regard to AIDS research, before it was even called AIDS. His work in and with the gay community made him a hero in my book. He led by example and was obviously a truth teller. His morals and values are stellar examples of his Jesuit education and training. This is his story told in his own words and his own voice. Now retired and in his 80s, he is a stunning example of what one person can do for the betterment of all. Throughout the horrible Covid epidemic were fortunate to have his voice speaking the truth when all around him were engaging in conspiracy theories, lies, and bad science. I knew that if you listen to Dr Fauci you you could not possibly go wrong. And the proof that he is human is that he admits in the book that he made the same mistake we have all made; he second-guessed himself about wearing a mask and ended up infected with Covid himself. Fortunately, he recovered and is enjoying a post-retirement life as a professor imparting his values and wisdom to the next generation of doctors and ethicists.

I guess this is what we used to call a "bodice ripper", spicy and graphic without resorting to clinical detail. Well written with a great plot and some steamy sex that is just a teeny bit edgy. For as good as the narrator was at carrying the lust of the story through her voice, one star off for mispronounced common words. A great listen for a cozy weekend in front of the fire with a good supply of your favorite beverage.

Of the Under the Mistletoe collection this is one of the better ones. It has an actually believable plot, the spicy bits make sense in context and are realistic and appropriate for the genre. The plot carries the spice, not the other way strings and gives us a sweet story of an adult holiday romance.

The Under the Mistletoe series has some cozy books some sexy books and some steamy books I would rate this one amusingly cozy with a little bit of spice. There is certainly some tongue in cheek humor about the vehicle in which our cast is travelling and a lovely time was had by all.

Many of the Under the Mistletoe books have had twists and quirks that are delightful and unpredictable. Sadly, this offering was less than that. I'll actually give it a 3.5 but it was formula and pretty obvious in the direction it was going. Graphic, but fun sex scenes within the context of a M/F relationship. Lusty and fun, but maybe get to know him better before the unprotected intercourse. Heavy on the Mayhem, less emphasis on Merriment.

Do Not Read this at work or in front of your kids or parents. Spicy and aggressively hot, open door sex set in the wide open spaces of the west. No two ways about it, this is deliciously smutty for those who appreciate the genre. Having both a female and a male narrator gave a nice touch to the audiobook.

I would not have usually picked this up, but for the excellent reviews in the 52BookClub Facebook Group. So well written and conceived that it was hard to remember it's not a true story and that "Arcane Taxonomy" was made up and fits the magical realism genre. Beth Stanley is perfect in this sort of Steampunk meets the 21st century tale of living life on one's own terms.

A look at the entry into WWII from a point of view we don't usually get from an English woman living in Venice. Told in the two voices of a Great-aunt and her grand-niece, we hear the story of Italy's entry into the war and the Venetian hope that is city would be spared. A novel of romance, espionage, betrayal, art. religion, and survival. Well written and well read.
