Story
Berkeley, California, 1933. In a lab filled with curiosities - beakers, microscopes, Bunsen burners, and hundreds upon hundreds of books - sat an investigator who would go on to crack at least 2,000 cases in his 40-year career. Known as the "American Sherlock Holmes", Edward Oscar Heinrich was one of America's greatest - and first - forensic scientists, with an uncanny knack for finding clues, establishing evidence, and deducing answers with a skill that seemed almost supernatural.

enormous disappointment

the only thing worse than the writing is the reading, which was poorly done and terminally slow. She often doesn't know what she is talking about....she thinks people given the rubber hose were SPRAYED with one!!! Her inflections are frequently wrong , even though this is her own writing.
I don't usually give poor reviews, but everything about this book set me to edge. I was interested in her other book, but can't waste another credit.
and...if this was read at a normal pa e it would have been a couple hours shorter...and whatever was going on with her sinuses through part of the book was uncomfortable...well..gross...to hear.

Story
It has been one hundred years since Agatha Christie wrote her first novel and created the formidable Hercule Poirot. A brilliant and award-winning biographer, Laura Thompson now turns her sharp eye to Agatha Christie. Arguably the greatest crime writer in the world, Christie’s books still sell over four million copies each year - more than thirty years after her death - and it shows no signs of slowing.

Story
Lurking beneath the progressive activism and sex positivity in the 1970 to '80s, a dark undercurrent of violence rippled across the American landscape. With reported cases of sexual assault and homicide on the rise, the FBI created a specialized team - the “Mindhunters”, better known as the Behavioral Science Unit - to track down the country's most dangerous criminals. And yet narrowing down a seemingly infinite list of potential suspects seemed daunting at best and impossible at worst - until Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess stepped on the scene.

Gabrielle Zackman does a wonderful job with such a perfect voice and great inflection. First heard her presenting Michelle McNamara's 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' and was delighted she read this book. Gabrielle Zackman and Kevin Pierce, ...thats all I need!

because I believe it is the director, not the performer who is "at fault" but this is the only way I know to put the reading to question. I liked what the director/performer seemed to be trying to get at, it was just...stiff at times.
