Story
There is a race against time to mitigate an environmental and economic disaster in the Southeastern corner of the Coachella Valley. The Salton Sea, the largest lake in the State of California, has been disappearing for decades. The combination of pollution, toxic runoff from the agriculture industry, diversion of the water resources being sucked up by the city of San Diego, and the drought conditions that plague the Golden State, has left the one-time watersports and recreationally rich body of water turning into a vast wasteland featuring noxious air quality problems for the entire Southland....

Chuck Parker is a total expert on city, county, state, and federal government rumination of land and water management at California's salton sea imperial valley. CNRA, DWR, SSMP, USACE, and BoR are the never ending total crap government actions.

Story
Robert Johnson is the subject of the most famous myth about the blues: he allegedly sold his soul at the crossroads in exchange for his incredible talent, and this deal led to his death at age 27. But the actual story of his life remains unknown save for a few inaccurate anecdotes. Up Jumped the Devil is the result of over 50 years of research. Gayle Dean Wardlow has been interviewing people who knew Robert Johnson since the early 1960s, and he was the person who discovered Johnson's death certificate in 1967.

Story
In this exquisitely written book, Robert Macfarlane sets off from his Cambridge, England, home to follow the ancient tracks, holloways, drove roads, and sea paths that crisscross both the British landscape and its waters and territories beyond. The result is an immersive, enthralling exploration of the ghosts and voices that haunt old paths, of the stories our tracks keep and tell, and of pilgrimage and ritual. Told in Macfarlane’s distinctive voice, The Old Ways folds together natural history, cartography, geology, archaeology, and literature.

Thumbs up for these 2! Brits doing English is refreshing. Both couldn't be more in their element.
