Excellent book!

Poor narration, author's name misspelled!
Reviewed: 05-13-19
This book is a standard work, something to get you started on your walk. But who on earth chose this narrator? It's GeTHsemane, not GeSthemane! A simple word like SITTING was pronounced SIFTING! It's truly annoying when a narrator who has been auditioned and has read the book who knows how many times and can still make so many mistakes is truly amazing. But if you can ignore these mistakes, the book is really enjoyable.
By the way, Amazon, the author's name is Frank Morison, not Frank Morrison.

Story
Throughout much of human history, our most important stories were passed down orally - including the stories about Jesus before they became written down in the Gospels. In this fascinating and deeply researched work, leading Bible scholar Bart D. Erhman investigates the role oral history has played in the New Testament - how the telling of these stories not only spread Jesus' message but helped shape it.

Good book, bad reading

Any additional comments?
A good popular level book about the role of memory as it relates to the Scriptures that have been handed down to us.
I wish it had been another reader, though.

Story
The great adventure story tells of Odysseus, a veteran of the Trojan War, who - through a landscape peopled with monsters, sea nymphs, evil enchantresses, and vengeful gods - makes his tortuous way home to his faithful wife, Penelope. Shipwrecked numerous times, faced with apparently insurmountable obstacles, offered the temptations of ease, comfort, and even immortality, Odysseus remains steadfast and determined. Themes of courage and perseverance, fidelity and fortitude.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The narration is excellent, as is the translation; however, the production is terrible. The first thing I noticed is that in many places the recording skips or hiccups. This is absolutely unacceptable. As others have stated, if an actual human had checked this recording before it was offered for sale then these glitches would have been caught and hopefully corrected. As others have stated, the pitch also varies in places which is a shame because the narration is superb.
Hey Audible - ummm Amazon - I know you don't care but we pay for these recordings with real money. This is the age of options and you might find that your customers have gone elsewhere because you stopped caring. Maybe that's why, after being an Audible member since 2006, I canceled my membership.
You can do better, Amazon!

I was interested in seeing how Dan Brown would follow up the Da Vinci Code. Although there were parts that were somewhat exciting and surprising, the novel was predictable and at times boring. So far, I think Angels & Demons is the book by Brown that I have enjoyed the most.
