Story
A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

Fun examination of friendship

I loved the full cast. The best man vignettes were hilarious! I also really liked the heartfelt insights into friendship.

Laugh out loud snark!
Reviewed: 05-08-22
Even though these audiobooks are pretty long, they still end way too soon! I love the hero, Jason’s, wise-cracking snark combined with introspection and philosophy. The world is richly imagined and the litRPG features enhance the story. The narrator is perfect! He manages to voice a wide range of characters and accents, imbuing each with a unique personality. But his rendering of Jason’s disconcerting snark is the best!

Story
In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter.

Outstanding entertainment

I was totally immersed in this listening experience. Characters were fascinating and wonderfully voiced. Just like an audio comic - I could see the images in my mind they were so artfully described. The narration was outstanding (as always) and the writing fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Story
An AI overseer and a human crew arrive on a distant planet to salvage an ancient UN starship. The overseer is unhappy. The crew, well, they're certainly no A-team. Not even a C-team on the best of days. And worse? Urmahon Beta, the planet, is at the ass-end of nowhere. Everybody expects this to be a long, ugly, and thankless job. Then it all goes disastrously wrong. What they thought was an uninhabited backwater turns out to be anything but empty.

Wanted to like this…

I love Nathan Fillion and his voice works well for this story. Problem is that he talks too fast in places, meaning I often missed the end of sentences as they were swallowed away. I think this book would work better in print as I also found it difficult to separate poem from story at times. It was also a bit too depressing for me (until the very very end). I much prefer spunky space opera to claustrophobic Alien-type narrative.
