Narrator good, Story pretty good (spoiledish review)

Reed does a spectacular job as always, the story was good and i found myself getting attached to each of the different sergeants. Thing is, no named marine died. Non of the sergeants died which was a shock.

Great Alpha Legion Story, Narrator Needs Work

The narrator was good but got the tone wrong frequently, and delivering lines that should have been blunt with inflection. He was a good narrator in most other respects though.

Story
With only one bastion still standing on the once unconquerable fortress world of Aranua, Warboss Gazrot Goresnappa should be basking in the light of impending victory. Instead, he lies ‘proppa dead’ beneath a decapitated Gargant’s head. The biggest and baddest bosses from each of the six (no-longer-united) clans step forward to duke it out to become the next warboss – but the ork gods have other plans. A prophecy foretells of a mysterious gate that lies beneath the human city. The one true warboss will be the first to find it, and will use it to turn the galaxy green.

Best Ork Story
Reviewed: 04-05-24
I’m only on chapter 6, and the story itself is already really fun. But what’s making me write a review now is the narrator, he does ork voices spectacularly, and when he read “Chapter errrrr uh.. Six!” he had me. He knew his job and he’s excelled.

Cadia licks its wounds in the wake of the Thirteenth Black Crusade. The heretic forces retreat on all fronts. The day is won. But Lord Castellan Creed cannot rest easy. Something tells him the assault was a mere prelude to something greater, something more final. He is right. Out of the Eye of Terror comes Abaddon the Despoiler, at the head of a warhost unmatched in scale since the dread days of the Horus Heresy.

I missed the GG series after finishing Anarch, this was an excellent way to wrap up the series as it is. The stories range from great to excellent, and it ends strongest with a story about Milo, who I had felt didn’t get enough written about him in the end. Hopefully more GG stuff comes out in the future.

Great book, not a horror novel
Reviewed: 03-13-24
Characters are well-written, and the author tries to make the story as scary as possible. It’s more politics and character development than horror or bolter porn. I honestly recommend it, as it plays to the strengths of the 40k universe while being it’s own story.

I’m not really into most spin-off type stories but listening to each of the warhammer crime novels has me very invested in the story of Varangantua. The Vorbis Conspiracy is all about how Alecto is starting to be noticed by the wider imperium and setting up a particular character towards the end.
