Nice and clean action

The action is good and I was happy to listen to a series without profanity. The only downside is a personal preference: this series is too VR/game like for me.

The action and storyline were great. However, I’m disappointed this series was never finished out and leaves the listener wondering what happened next.

Story
Jim and his friends are heroes, having closed the gate opened by a dark mana demon. As battered as they are, their work is nowhere near complete. It isn't just humans that can go insane, and saving the world doesn’t mean there aren’t other plots afoot that could destroy the Empire. Now shipwrecked and with no knowledge of his location, Jim has to find a way to stop a threat even he had never seen before. An infection is spreading, something beyond anything even the gods warned him of, and the team must find a way to cut it out before it spreads.

The action and general outline are great, but…
Reviewed: 09-14-24
But…the details throughout the story consistently paint the picture of an author who has problems with authority figures (every authority figure and most adults are evil villains in this series).

Definitely “punn-ish-ing”! Decent humor though
Reviewed: 08-30-24
The language is clean (little/no profanity), which I appreciated. Definitely lots of puns. I think Divine Dungeon was a better series though.

Story
Jake is working at the neighborhood market under his apartment when the world ends. He expected nuclear war, a computer virus, or even climate change burning everyone to a crisp to bring about the downfall of civilization. But cruel and arbitrary gods from another world? Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.

The story was fairly gripping, but I was disturbed by the MC’s (lack of) morality, even if it turned out to have been justified later.

Too implausible socially
Reviewed: 04-12-24
The action was good, but the ineptness of most of the characters showed (especially the new ones) clashed strongly with them surviving. The heavily LGBT theme was off-putting. While I really liked this author’s early books, I don’t think I will be purchasing any more of this author’s works.
