Story
In the Void beyond Aster Fall, Sam stands watch at the fortress of Silverguard, protecting the world from an ancient enemy. His strength as an Astral Titan is all that stands between it and destruction. Meanwhile, dimensional cracks are spreading through the World Seal, the barrier that protects Aster Fall from invasion by the Outsider galaxy. Flaws are appearing with increasing frequency as demonic armies flood through, including old enemies from the First War. If the seal fails completely, Aster Fall will break and disaster will follow.

great book but too short. SLIGHT SPOILER
Reviewed: 05-16-24
this book was great! plenty of fighting, crafting, exploring, and growth. the only real complaint I have is that this book was around 5 hours shorter than the others. the thing I feel is missing from this book is the lack of personal relationships. if it had been 5 hours longer and that time focused on the avatar outside the time distortion and he went to Alora, that would have made this book much better

Story
Jim and his literal shoulder demon have survived, so far, by the skin of their teeth. After finding a long-abandoned starter village, Jim has begun the process of rebuilding his town. Unfortunately for our favorite adventurer, the threats he now faces are far more complicated than mere monsters. The poor Noob has to deal with angry townsfolk, trade negotiations, and a talking badger. With goblins and bandits also sniffing around, will Noobtown - I mean Windfall - survive?

BORING TOWN BUILDING/MAYOR NONSENSE
Reviewed: 02-27-23
I understand that alot of these kinds of books have some sort of village building elements, but come onnnnnn.... the town building in the beginning of this book made me stop listening all together. the MC gets more irritable with the people, while these simple villagers fleeing from war and rescued from goblins by the MC keep getting more snide. couldn't make it more than a few hours into this book.

great story
Reviewed: 01-18-23
great story, the only problem I have is the voice of the MC. He's supposed to be a 20 yr old man yet the narrator makes him sound like a 12 yr boy with the high pitch squeaky voice of boy in puberty. it's really annoying. The MC has a good character but the voice makes him sound like a whining little boy.

But then a horrific car accident ruined his arm, eliminating any hope of a professional baseball career. Consumed by depression, Zeke gave up on his future, preferring to wallow in self-pity. That is, until an opportunity came along for him to prove his worth.

good start, but...
Reviewed: 12-16-22
the story started out good, and I could get used to a club weilding warrior. but later in the story it's like the MC turns into a dumb brute whose only tactic is charge and bash..get hurt..bash..get hurt..bash bash bash. I mean at the end of his intro he has culminated some decent amount of skill and proficiency with his weapon, but after that every fight is just charge and bash. the story was good enough to carry me through to the end, but I hope the MC gets a little smarter and better at actually weild his chosen weapon in the next book.

overly complicated
Reviewed: 03-28-22
This series started off good enough, with a good story line and a decent main character, but it just kept getting worse and worse as the books went on. The problem I have is that the MC keeps getting bogged down with quest after half remembered guest and keeps making poor choices. The story devolves from a promising adventure series to a horny 21 year old trying to bang 2 different elves and trying to find his lost girlfriend. he is constantly side tracked during quests and finds the most inopportune times to take the dumbest risks that end up costing him or his guild mates time money or effort. the story is constantly bogged down at the most boring of times with over detailed observations about things that either don't matter or are another distraction for the MC.
this book has to be the worst one yet. he has 10 different goals and is forcing more on his plate during a war time where his only goal should be surviving and getting stronger. his greed, lust, over confidence, random moments of self doubt and moral issues turn him into the dumb reckless kid that is not enjoyable to follow.
book 5 was probably the best one, but I will not be buying the next one. this series is mediocre 😕
