Story
Audio is a unique medium. It invites listeners to become a part of the process, to interpret what they hear, however they'd like; whereas motion pictures leave no such room for input. With the completion of this book, it dawned on me that, as an actor by trade, I could play the part; and I'm knee-deep in actor pals - why not record the book like a radio play? So that's exactly what happened. I rounded up an excellent troupe of thespians, from both Los Angeles and my home state of Oregon, and we recorded what was to become this epic listen for you to hear!

Really love the direction and voice acting done throughout - I read this book years ago and was happily to relive it in this manner - not sure what the real people named in the book thought, this was an awesome way to punch in the arm and have fun with the film making process, which I imagine can be done rote at times - loved how the voice actors gave not only personality behind the characters yet a devious sense of humor as well. Great read, as i recommended before and will again and the audio version rocked the book to life as well!

Really liked the characters and voice actors who portrayed them, and love how they took the time in answering questions left by the book - story just needed a little more to me. Still would revisit this again as The Colonial Radio Layers do a fine job bringing these stories to life

Story
After finding a treasure map belonging to the notorious pirate Captain Flint, Jim Hawkins, Squire Trelawney, and Doctor Livesey charter a ship and set sail for the Island of Treasure. However, they are unaware that most of the crew they have hired once sailed with Flint, including the man with one leg - Long John Silver - and they mean to take the ship and the treasure for themselves. One of the all-time great adventure stories, Treasure Island comes to life in digital stereo, a full cast, thousands of sound effects, and an original music score.

Zamparelli performs Long John excellent - once again the cast was matched up rather well - one of the first books I ever read - really like the flow of the story and the music as these are great companions to keep me going while traveling to and from classes and on lunch at work to escape the day - thanks again

Neil Gaiman at his best!
Reviewed: 02-02-23
This was above and beyond where I thought this would be - Neil does fantastic job narrating and James McAvoy is great as the Sandman - obviously much better than the Netflix series as it stays true to the comic story like when I read them so many years ago - couple of spots I still didn’t care for in the storyline, bet it for shock value or twisted view on his part, either way it plays in on the macabre world of dreams, at times - well worth a listen

Getting our hands on this source material was dangerous, legally questionable, and career-threatening, but I felt it was worth the risk–these aren’t just Hollywood outtakes, folks, these are far-out-takes. Did Duke and JFK have a reckoning in the Oval Office? Did Yoda have anger issues? Did Sean Connery struggle with crappy dentures? The answers to these–and many more unanswered questions–lay within the treasure trove of The Lost Recordings, Vol. 1: Hollywood.

The Colonial Radio Players did brought together another fine performance from Jules Verne - fine job of voicing all four central characters, especially Nemo and the professor, as they were believable and entertaining - like the score in between the read as well

Reviewed: 12-07-22
Unlike both movie adaptations the original story wasn’t slamming with action but did keep you thinking about how in the world to stop or even contain the visitor - my only complaint was that Mr Cooper made it a bit hard to keep track of the speaking characters but did a good job at keeping your attention to the end

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Great cast for a classic story
Reviewed: 12-02-22
Appreciate the time they put into this as they painted a bit of a different yet very similar picture to the one I had in mind years ago when I first read this book - I have to say for the story being told through diaries and journals, the drama in their voices was well served and added tension in parts I glossed over when reading it by myself - for this reason alone I would give this another go round - Alan Cumming did a great job in both engaging in different tones for the characters as well as his inflection when moments called for it - Katherine Kellgren to me added the voice and the drama needed to help carry the story and held me to its conclusion - Simon Vance kicked off the story nicely and set the scene dramatically as you felt imprisoned in his castle - definitely recommend this one

Much like a watching or experiencing a play - Colonial Radio Players did a great job developing both mood and tone while you still can draw the setting in your mind, from a story read before in my youth and brought to life with different voices than the ones I’ve created before - short and great run through as I travel for work and easy listening for anyone wanting a quick escape from the daily grind - plus it’s October and use to be one of my Halloween favorites
Peace and stay safe everyone
