Story
Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books—but we are real.

This book was not good. Narration was worse.

I love science fiction, superheroes, and young adult. This book, essentially, was built directly to my tastes. Unfortunately, the story wasn't great. The characters were pretty two dimensional (the whiney protagonist, the nerdy friend, the nice beautiful girl, the mentor), and it didn't really come together in a way that made sense. Also, the narrator was awful. I have listened to hundreds of books and this is the worst narration I have come across. When he was doing voices for girls, it sounded like he was mocking female speech patterns. Same goes for the nerd boy.
Also, of all the names you could give your main character, you choose John Smith? Seriously?
Go read something else with aliens in it, I promise you'll be happier. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card or Cinder by Marissa Meyer or The Knife of Never Letting Go by patrick Ness.

Story
On the treacherous streets of Riverside, a man lives and dies by the sword. Even the nobles on the Hill turn to duels to settle their disputes. Within this elite, dangerous world, Richard St. Vier is the undisputed master, as skilled as he is ruthless--until a death by the sword is met with outrage instead of awe, and the city discovers that the line between hero and villain can be altered in the blink of an eye.

Swordspoint is was an amazing story with an amazing cast of characters. The author's reading was absolutely perfect and the rest of the cast did a great job as well. The music and staging of key scenes was done really nicely and didn't feel tacky. If you're debating whether or not to pick up this title, take this as a sign and get it now! You won't regret it!
