I could listen to Professor Greenberg all day. He brings the composers and subject to life with a good, and at times zany, sense of humor. I am crossing my fingers that he does a lecture on jazz, the blues, and good old Rock and Roll.

I've read many books about this era, but this was fresh. We can't forget the women and blue collar workers who made their contributions and you won't after reading this book.

Read this book and join him. He is wise, has integrity, and a vision we can live with (but not without)

The title is a bit of a misnomer, it should be titled The History of Nuclear Research and Development 1900 to 1945. This book covers everything, the people, the mood, the science, the politics, the debates, and the decisions leading to and ending with the dropping of nuclear bombs on urban centers. The book ends with poignant observations about the aftermath of their use. This book is the gold standard, and is as relevant today as ever.

It's is a hard story to read (or hear), but it makes the redemption all the more better.
