Story
In Boulder, Allison "Lex" Luther barely gets her niece to safety. In Los Angeles, Scarlett Bernard is nearly shot in the back. It seems that a powerful enemy is unhappy with the Old World leaders' plans to form a government, and they've coordinated a strike against those rare individuals who can undo magic itself.

The story and characters are wonderful. Melissa and Kate make a great team. I really like lex getting out of Denver and introduction of new characters.
The story is predictable but really enjoyable. That is my only criticism.

Story
For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

I usually can predict the book’s story line by midway through the book. The story line had very interesting twist which was totally unexpected.

This series has been growing in depth and character until this last book. Anna and Charles are wonderful deep personas. The story to me is disjointed and alittle confused from the previous books.
I hope this book to setting up something large across mercy and Anna storyline.

It is all about Skippy
Reviewed: 06-25-17
I was concerned this was going to be a space war epic. It definitely has that feeling, but the introduction of Skippy half way through the 1st book has really made this series alot of fun. Some would say it is Space war epic and other might say syfy fantacy.. in either case, the characters are great, story is rich and Skipping is the best.

Story
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Then, the male vampires knocked up some female humans, and the result was a gorgeous race of all male ash - superhuman freaks that had looks to kill. Charlie is the first female ash, aka unicorn of the Hive - the gated compound in Portland that the humans have designated to isolate vampires and ash from society.

This first book set the stage for what I hope is a great series. The story line took a while to get started and focused on the relationship building versus the plotline and action. Alot of small short plots that tried to come together at the end. I am going to purchase the second book hopefully the stage is set for a cool series..
Voice actor is pretty good. She carries both women and men personas well.
