I like the full audio narrative. I'm getting real tired of all the free books including an underlying lecture on social justice.

I weary of the thinly disguised lessons in social justice.

The premise of the shifter element is interesting. Having said that, the underlying lecture on social justice is tiring. The narrator is good on male voices, but the breathy female voices are irritating. He'd do better just to read it. The erotic elements somewhat funny like watching an old Dracula movie. Couldn't finish it.

I wanted to pull out my hair after a couple of hours of endless cataloguing of point, potions, powers and what not. Clearly not intended for non gamers.

One one hand it's an ok story with some hot scenes until she stops by his house unexpectedly.

On the other hand he tortures and kills people to de-stress and for business. Really? Completely repulsive, horrifying and entirely unnecessary to the love story except to make it wierd and revolting.

Kate Reading is great, as usual.

The first few chapters are the equivalent of a long, boring lecture on the subjugation of women. Not just illustrated, but restated, reinforced, summarized and reviewed. I nearly opted out, but I have a hard time not finishing a book.

After that the story picks up and the development of a female Holmes is quite inventive and actually works very well. There's a lot of potential here.

I'm going to try the next book, but I HATE social lectures in fiction books. If I wanted lectured, I'd order one.

While the narration in book one was marginal, Ms Rivers does an excellent job in book two.

I appreciate Ms Galen's acknowledgment of PTSD. I did not appreciate battle scenes interspersed in the love scenes. It left me a little ill.

Still, in all I liked the intrigue.

Ten years ago Lucy Rivers narration would have been standard, but honestly she "reads" the whole book. It's pretty bad. Just make it through this one. She is ten times better in book 2. (Yes you do need the background for book 2.)

I selected this title because I thought it might have an action story as a component of the romance. Don't be fooled. Chapters and chapters of emotional angst. While the hero is described as a "black ops operator" every other paragraph (until you want to gag), in the end it proves to be completely irrelevant to the story. The author gives a disingenuous endorsement to rural life and the military to try and sell the story. In essence it's a thinly disguised anti-gun missive.

Even though I wasn't thrilled about the last book in this series, I thought I would give this one a try since I had enjoyed the characters a banter in the previous books. I'm barely into the book and already Sophie is deceiving Anatoly and off on a self centered juggernaut. I decided I couldn't take another book of wanting to slap her silly. No man would put up with her. No man should put up with a woman who does what she does. So I confess, I didn't get very far and won't be back for more.
