Story
When mystery author D. B. Ziegler is late delivering her book, Abi Schore steps in to help. Surely she can give her favorite author moral support over the holiday break and get the manuscript to her boss at Tea & Sympathy Publishing in time for the new year. When Abi shows up on Ms. Ziegler’s doorstep bearing holiday treats, she’s met by the author’s handsome grandson Dov, who reveals a startling plot twist. His grandmother isn’t able to finish the book and Dov promised he’d complete it so fans won’t be disappointed—a task that’s harder than he ever imagined.

This book had so much potential
Reviewed: 01-01-25
This book had so much potential but it was not for me. I loved the characters but the author seemed to focus quite a lot on details that I didn’t care about and then rush past things like their chemistry. I liked hearing about his struggle with losing his grandmother, but the focus was so much on that and not hardly on the budding romance between the two main characters. And then there were so many times one of them almost said something about their feelings but then awkwardly didn’t, that it became annoying.
I really wanted to like this book, but it unfortunately fell very short for me.

Story
Iris Nightingale is more than okay. She has her life planned out to a perfect schedule. Work, run, sleep, repeat. She spends her quiet Friday nights sitting alone on a bench in the park, trying to push back the memories that no amount of running can help her escape. But one evening, there’s someone else on her bench - Hunter. Tall, wry and infuriating: everything about him gets under Iris’s skin. Little does she know that he's about to upset more than just her routines...

I like the story, and the narrator was pretty good. Parts of it were a bit long but overall, I was interested the entire listen.

Story
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

I just finished this book and can’t stop repeating “are you kidding? Are. You. Kidding.??”
This book had real potential to check all of the boxes but in the end it was a confusing love story that went back and forth so much you didn’t know who you were rooting for. Then I’m the end-without giving spoilers, the author goes a completely different direction and leaves you with absolute whiplash. I can’t really even describe how annoying this book ended up being in the end.

This book is painful. There isn’t anything relatable at all to it. I wanted to slap the main character-she constantly let’s awful people run all over her and treat her like garbage, and then she makes them dinner in the slow cooker? She is so grossly nice and sickeningly naive that I just wanted to punch her the whole time. I don’t know how else to say it.
I made it to chapter 17 and then had to call it quits.
I absolutely would not recommend the narrator. She had the same accent, tone, and inflection for every character.
