Story
With powerful forces working behind the scenes, Daisy seemed to be on the path to what may very well be a rousing victory. Or a glorious death, should she fail. For obvious reasons, she hoped for the former rather than the latter. She and her friends had persevered and come out on the other side time and again. Now they just had to pull together one last time to stand against their greatest foe. Success would mean victory. Failure would mean the loss of all they held dear.

I've loved this series, between this and Charlie, I think I actually like this one more. Daisy's solo story is over, and I'm looking forward to seeing how she gets rolled into the rest of the story with Charlie.

Thrown for the biggest loop she would likely ever be forced to experience, Daisy found herself at a complete loss for once. While a course of action normally made itself clear to her, her new predicament made following her instincts impossibly dangerous. One misstep, and she not only might harm those she cared for, but could even fracture the universe itself.

An instance of a book where I missed the codes, so I bought it.
If you enjoy Sci-Fi you'll enjoy this series, Aliens, AI, Space Battles... everything you want in a good Sci-Fi series. That said we're four books in so you probably know that by now, and I'm just preaching to the choir. If you do come across this and you haven't read the rest of the series, go do that, the first book sets a great pace and the series maintains quality.

And more than a few had paid the ultimate price. Now the threat of a massive war spilling over between both realms had gone from a vague threat to a deadly reality, and facing Visla Dominus’s incredible power, Charlie and his friends were forced to call in every favor they were owed.

He could have skipped me for the last couple of books and not given me any codes, and I would have bought them all XD. In all seriousness, this series has been a pleasure to listen to, if you enjoy light-hearted Sci-Fi, with a good mixture of comedy, action, romance, and suspense, this has a little bit of everything, and won't let you down. It's well worth the time, and I can't wait to dig into more of from Scott Baron.

Story
When your luck just plain sucks in not one galaxy, but two, most people would throw in the towel. But not Charlie. In fact, it almost seemed like he was a glutton for that sort of misery. His friends were spread across two distant galaxies, separated by a heavily guarded magical portal and struggling to deal with a war now spilling over into both the technological realm as well as the magical one. And it was beginning to look like they’d reached their breaking point. But Charlie wasn’t about to give up, nor would he give in.

Could a magic wielding astronaut fight off an alien invasion with just his vampire assassin and space dragon friends? Amazingly, Charlie thought they might actually pull it off... that is if Lady Luck decided to play nice for a change. Unfortunately, knowing his fortunes, the odds of that were slim to none. The aliens were coming, that much was certain. What they could do to stop them, however, remained up in the air. Having joined forces with the mighty AIs overseeing the planet and its defenses, at least their toys had been upgraded accordingly.

After book 2 in a series really the only thing you want to know from reviews is if there is some major shift, either in tone, narrator, story, etc. The only real reason to want to know is if you should stop reading/listening. You should keep reading/listening. The books are as good as ever, and at this point, we start to get science and magic converging, so it's good times all the way around.

Caledan is caught in the middle of a warring dragon clan, and Soren is powerless to save his people or stop the attacks, but worse is coming. The Elementals are rising. If Caledan is not destroyed by dragon fire, it will be obliterated by the Elementals’ ancient magic. Soren despairs as the alliance between men, Eldarkind, and dragons falls apart. Strife and fear are rampant, and his inability to stop the rebel dragon attacks undermines the peace he has worked so hard to secure.

A solid conclusion to a great series

Overall, a solid series but Meg Cowley's writing isn't going to be my favorite. The series is great, with a large world interesting characters, interwoven stores, and a good size cast (not too big, and not too small), but in the end, there's something that just didn't click for me. I think the problem comes down to the wrong audience, my thinking throughout the series was that if I was a young teen this would have been great. My recommendation for these is that if you like YA/teen fantasy or have a teen in the house these might make a great gift.
As for Narration, I have yet to hear a bad narration from Jack Voraces, he, as he always seems to do, put on a solid performance, and was my favorite part of the audiobook.

An odd off the beaten path sort of Fantasy world. You're not getting the sort of High Fantasy of a Tolkien or Sanderson, it's almost a fever dream kind of fantasy, where things exist because they should exist, and everything makes perfect sense in an odd way. It's a fantastic change of pace from most of the fantasy I listen to, and while I wouldn't listen to this style exclusively, it makes for a nice break. If you're looking for some fantasy that breaks out of the High Fantasy worlds of popular series give this a shot.
