it's not often that you get the trifecta on audible, but this series, author, and narrator team pulls it off superbly. The mixing of ancient gods, real world historical accuracy, and Christianity make this a really rare treat for fantasy fans. 10 out of 9!

The world, characters, and magic are so interesting. At some points it is a mystery, and at others a horror story. Sometimes it's a love story and others a classic fantasy story. The series has everything. Narration is great!

The way that Sapkowski plays with inner turmoil, coming to hard truths, and characters who display the strength and determination that we often wish we could live up to within ourselves. That's just one of the reasons why this series has been told in so many different ways and through so many different formats. Heroes, just like you and me.

I enjoy reading the actual book rather than listening to audio books when I have the time, but the narrator of this series is incredible! If you pair the author's amazing writing, with the talent of a great narrator, and then throw the background music of the Book track Edition into the mix? That's a recipe for magic. I wish there was a way to request narrators and book track editions... I'd apply them to every book I've ever read.

It just gets better and better
Reviewed: 05-15-23
Like any great series, each one of these books has a satisfying and incredibly creative story arc. You don't have to read every single book to get to one mighty resolution because the author knows how to create meaningful opposition and situations within each book. But the entire series, as a whole, slowly answers questions, fills in history, and manages to up the anty of its predecessor. The writing, narration, and story are just as good, if not better than the first book.

Story
Raine can see—and speak—to the dead, a gift that comes with a death sentence. All her life she has hidden, lied, and run to save her skin, and she’s made some spectacularly bad choices along the way. But it is a rare act of kindness—rescuing an injured woman in the snow—that becomes the most dangerous decision Raine has ever made. Dangerous because the woman is fleeing from Redwinter, the fortress-monastery of the Draoihn, warrior magicians who answer to no king, and who will stop at nothing to reclaim what she’s stolen.
