Story
The hilly terrain next to the old Sprocket house that Meg Langslow and her fiancé, Michael, are refurbishing is the perfect location for an extreme croquet field - even the legs of cows and sheep are convenient extra wickets. Croquet has become all the rage in Caerphilly...until it appears someone in town has taken the rage a bit too literally. While stumbling down a steep bank after her ball, Meg encounters the body of a fresh female corpse with a mallet-sized dent in her head.

A bird mystery book

I loved this book and I think anyone with a sense of humor will enjoy it too. Donna Andrews takes one duck and one tournament of unusual croquet; and creates a teaser of a title for another fun, funny, and creative story.
The narrator Burnadette Dunne has had practice bring Andrews characters to life, because she's been the narrator for many of Donna Andrews books.

I loved this book, because it's poetry that creates a story about being friends and being yourself. The poetry also, makes the story easier to listen to the story. The story makes you think about truth and lies and friendship.
To really enjoy this story, you should first read "The Truth Pixie". It's great too.

Passionate, earthy, deeply affecting, The Red Tent combines rich storytelling with a valuable contribution to modern fiction: a vibrant new perspective of female life in the age that shaped present day civilization and values.
If you like The Red Tent, try The Harlot by the Side of the Road, a recounting of some of the most startling and explicit writings from The Old Testament.

A moving piece of literature

This story drew me in almost from the very beginning. It is the story of a woman and of many women in ancient time. The narrative ebbs and flows beautifully. And best of all, the narrator didn't just give voice to characters, but she became the women whose story she was portraying.
I loved this story and is now one of my favorites.

This book is great fun for children of any age, even as old as 99. Hopefully, everyone who reads it will be filled with Christmas spirt. It teaches all of us a lesson on happiness and doing good. I really identified with the elf and wanted him to saved from his doom.
The narrator did an excellent job of making each voice distinct from one another and his performance is what made this story stand out as a new classic.

Story
In The Butchering Art, the historian Lindsey Fitzharris reveals the shocking world of 19th-century surgery on the eve of profound transformation. She conjures up early operating theaters - no place for the squeamish - and surgeons, working before anesthesia, who were lauded for their speed and brute strength. They were baffled by the persistent infections that kept mortality rates stubbornly high. A young, melancholy Quaker surgeon named Joseph Lister would solve the deadly riddle and change the course of history.

I could hardly stop listening. I rarely read nonfiction, but this book was facinating. The subject was presented in an easy to understand way. The narration was paced so to give more interest to the presentation. But there is one drawback, that is the material could be gruesome, but it was necessary to the account.

Story
It was 80 years ago, on the publication of The House at Pooh Corner, when Christopher Robin said good-bye to Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Now they are all back in new adventures, for the first time approved by the Trustees of the Pooh Properties. This is a companion volume that truly captures the style of A. A. Milne - a worthy sequel to The House at Pooh Corner and Winnie-the-Pooh.

Milne, but with an freshness of new character and adventures. I could not stop listening to the end. Then I had to share it with my husband and listened again.

Romance with difference, but slightly out of order
Reviewed: 04-01-17
Mary Balogh takes on romance with a handicap. Our hero of "The Escape" isn't physically perfect, but that's what makes him special. Also, everyone needs to find their place in the world, and that's the journey our hero and heroine travel. The novella "The Suitor" is a bit predictable, but fills in the fate of characters from the series "The Survivor's Club". Unfortunately, the novella is out of order, because it should come after the first book "The Proposal".
The performance is excellent, and the narrator brings out the emotions of the characters.
