Story
Phrases like “never again” don’t mean much when you’ve been a vampire for several thousand years. And promises made in the heat of anger don’t always outweigh the lure of gold. Ben Vecchio thought he knew everything there was to know about the immortals of Italy. But when Tenzin tempts him into another adventure, finding a cache of rare gold coins missing since the nineteenth century, he’ll discover that familiar places can hold the most delicious secrets. And possibly the key to his future.

my biggest complaint is trivial and about how the narrator pronounced "Library." He says "Lie-berry" and "Lie-berry-an." Elizabeth Hunter is amazing as always.

All Ben Vecchio wanted was a quiet summer before his last semester of university. All Tenzin wanted was a cache of priceless medieval coins that had been missing for several hundred years. And some company. Phrases like "never again" don't mean much when you've been a vampire for several thousand years, and promises made in the heat of anger don't always outweigh the lure of gold.

My title isn't just about the book. The book is great but the narration is top notch. The many accents, languages, and even speech impediments she had to use were impressive. She did them all flawlessly.

Accent Changed
Reviewed: 03-25-19
I have been quite fond of the accents Nicole has managed. They are still good in this book, but her accent for Christian changed a bit and it just isn't as good as the previous ones. Hopefully it is a fluke, but still, she is the most enjoyable narrator I have heard thus far. The story is still a good one.

No secret stays hidden forever. A phone call from an old friend sets mysterious book researcher Giovanni Vecchio back on the path of a mystery that has eluded him for centuries. Little does he suspect a young librarian holds the key to an ancient secret, nor could he expect the danger Beatrice De Novo would attract. Now both will follow a twisted maze leading from the archives of a university library, through the fires of Renaissance Florence, and toward a passion that could destroy them both.

Huge Fan, but...

I love Elizabeth Hunter and her books. I am absolutely in love with the series. I have been for many years. I am so disappointed with the narrator. I am having a hard time getting through listening to it. The narrator does not do Beatrice and Giovanni justice. Her accents are absolutely terrible. The book states that Beatrice has very little to no southern twang. She has an accent that hints of Spanish heritage. All I hear is, "Bumblescum, AL." These books will always be one of my all time favorites, but I just can't listen to the awful narration anymore...
