What a read! The author narrated the book & did a fabulous job injecting just the right feeling into each page. Characters were well fleshed out and just when you think you know where the story is going there is another shift. Very well done!

The story held an interesting perspective but unlike his other novels, this one was tortuous for me. It could have been pared down and still presented the story. Its writing style and sentence structure was different as well. The story meandered from one thing to another. I have always enjoyed his novels previously but this one was different. I do feel guilty about feeling this way as I’ve always looked forward to his novels. Maybe I just didn’t “get it” on this one!

The characters were well crafted, the back story was instilled with mystical lore and there was swordplay and more swordplay. A somewhat different take on magic and all of this came together to become a very enjoyable and memorable listen!

Not the same old angel/devil theme here. A puzzle to be solved both scholarly and archaeologically. Some times a little slow but well worth the wait. Well written and characters were well drawn. A good listen

Delivered with no frills. Straight on storytelling, logically but devastatingly paced. An honest unwrapping of a years old mystery falls into a college student’s hands. What he does with it is naive, filled with curiosity and intelligence. The reader is left to care deeply and try to second guess the ending. Totally worthwhile!

Wonderfully horrifying

The way that this book is presented snaps each specific piece into a mosaic of dread and challenges the reader to try and make sense of both the underlying reality as opposed to possible paranormal promise. So different from many books in that it combines sleuthing facts and sifting scenarios. Combined with excellent pacing and great narration this is indeed a book or listen that demands your attention. What a delicious, devious and shattering novel. I highly recommend!
