I love this series but really? Bringing back an old enemy with a “they didn’t really die, even though I saw them dead?” That’s just tacky.

The narrator is ok but I really hated his voice for Constance. Also, I’m partly of the opinion that Doug and Lincoln have finally jumped the shark. Time travel? Really? I don’t know.

Reeling from a traumatic break-in, Emma wants a new place to live. But none of the apartments she sees are affordable or feel safe. Until One Folgate Street. The house is an architectural masterpiece: a minimalist design of pale stone, plate glass, and soaring ceilings. But there are rules. The enigmatic architect who designed the house retains full control: no books, no throw pillows, no photos or clutter or personal effects of any kind. The space is intended to transform its occupant—and it does.

I was absolutely RIVETED by this book. The story was well formed and written, the narration was terrific. I really loved it. Normally I won't write a full review, just mark the stars, but this was too good NOT to write a review. I hope this author writes many more stories.

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

Story
Vain and charismatic Walter Sickert made a name for himself as a painter in Victorian London. But the ghoulish nature of his art - as well as extensive evidence - points to another name, one that's left its bloody mark on the pages of history: Jack the Ripper. Cornwell has collected never-before-seen archival material - including a rare mortuary photo, personal correspondence and a will with a mysterious autopsy clause - and applied cutting-edge forensic science to open an old crime to new scrutiny.

I was most disappointed to find that this book is basically just a reprint with a little extra material from Ms. Cornwell's book "Portrait of a killer" which I already own and loved.
Not really happy with this turn of events.

I listened and literally wanted to be ill several times. I do not understand how women could be so cruel to one another, especially after one has gone through the pain and humiliation a rape victim does. Kudos to Mr. Krakaour for covering the material factually and sensitively.
