Story
The life of a highly sensitive person (HSP) is atypical, colorful, stimulating, painful, beautiful, and confusing all at the same time. Sometimes, your sensitivity might be beneficial, other times…extremely overwhelming. Why do you feel SO much? Why does the world feel as though it crashes onto you like a tidal wave, while others seem to experience it as the gentle ripples of a pond?Highly Sensitive is a comprehensive guide to navigating life for those who have it turned on to the max.

The Highly Sensitive Person Meets Anxiety & More
Reviewed: 09-14-22
The author succeeds in presenting very valuable information regarding what life is like for highly sensitive people. Among the many challenges that highly sensitive people can encounter, anxiety is a key and formidable- but not impossible- opponent. With a delicate nervous system and ever feeling heart, highly sensitive people can feel overwhelmed and misunderstood in various places within their life, including among family members, co-workers and intimate partners. With a sensible narrator presenting this information in order to help an HSP feel more confident and protected, the author advises, wisely, that HSPs know how to protect themselves and how to set healthy boundaries- i.e. no now to say NO and be just fine with that answer and another person's reaction, be it good or bad. Anxiety and/or depression or just plain old feeling overwhelmed can be managed in order to live a healthy and pleasing existence for any HSP out there. This book is an excellent resource to read not once, but many times over.

Narcissistic Abuse In A Perfectly Succinct Form
Reviewed: 08-19-22
Narcissistic abuse recovery is a very personal and touchy topic for me. I have encountered it in romance as well as at work. Linda Hill does an excellent job of putting the situations, driving forces and recovery options out in plain language that doesn't make a victim feel like they asked for it. In addition to myself, I know other women who have suffered the same sort of situation. The narrator utilizes a proper tone throughout the audio book, as well. You can learn about the different types of narcissistic abuse, and you can also follow along very closely to determine how to better protect yourself and believe that you are worthy of a healthy love. My support network is sparse, but I can feel better knowing that I can refer back to the audio book to remind myself that, someday, I can let someone good love me. The author touches on the importance of allowing yourself more than enough time to heal- no timeline and no deadline. I could not agree more. The tone of the audio book is comforting, in my opinion. I never had enough time to slow down and realize how damaged I am, but this audio book makes it feel a lot less shameful. For such a delicate topic, the author is spot on in her delivery of detailed and sensitive information.
I would also highly recommend this audio book due to the fact that a great deal of information is covered in just two hours of listening time. I was pulled into it quickly and paid very close attention which was difficult to do when it sounded like my life was being narrated in almost every chapter. It concludes with a good dose of "how to help and protect yourself" information. I paid even more attention to those final chapters.
The direction of the delivery is not presented in such a way that someone might feel that things are just being thrown at you. It's comforting and straight-forward which is more than most people have been when I have mentioned what happened to me.

Story
Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

Excellent cast and story- dark, heavy and awesome! The build is slow to the unveiling of who the dark water bride really is, but it was worth the wait.
