Story
Wizard Lily Singer is kept busy managing library archives, studying magic, and trying to keep her witch friend Sebastian from dragging her into trouble. Unfortunately, he loves adventure even more than she loves being left alone. She doesn't want to investigate a malignant spell in a haunted house, but Sebastian is promising rare books as the reward. She also doesn't want to hurt her family but is tired of being lied to about her past. And she definitely doesn't want to get stuck in a dangerously unstable time loop, but Sebastian is in trouble - again....

I think I've been enjoying this book for a while now. However, Lydia Sherrer is still very much on my list of authors who's suspicious books read as if they were written with an end goal of enacting some crazy RP in peoples life's. That aside I would give the book full rating but this series did cause me a bit of stress.

Very fun book that honestly helped me shift my fantasy's about a sense of purpose in the infinite library of Alexandria in my imagination, or in this world. I'm thankful to have listened to it.

Despite the hordes of goblins still ready to ravage human lands, King Rard has signed a treaty with them, so Minalan is forbidden from taking advantage of their weak state. Most would take a well-deserved rest over the summer…but Minalan and his household are busy repaying a favor owed to the tribal Kasari for their help in the war, and the Spellmonger pays his debts. Perhaps one of my favorite instalments of the spell monger series. The overall plot was a high point in the series, far too many books that I've enjoyed fall apart by this installment. A subplot of saving kids was what kept this book from feeling like a filler episode in the neverending saga of the dead god. I also very much enjoyed the authors interpretation of divinity as a pretty spot on interpretation of people's relationships to their beliefs.

A bit conflicted on a review to leave on this series, that's a good thing however. the series so far has me very engaged. So while it's fun and had some really amazingly creative points it also had a bit of your typical filler type events of a series that most likely will have more coming out. It is outstanding in the genre and obviously I will have to read/listen to book four when it's out!

This is a great series so far, it's in the upper echelon of books in the genre! I could give a rave review about it or I could just say that I enjoyed it enough to mark down while listening with great urgency the the one or two small errors in wording that I caught. The way any true fan would do. Would recommend. Also obv Nick Podehl really makes it sound perfect.

Loved the first books!
Reviewed: 06-18-21
I really adored the first few books, they were outstanding! The world felt well flushed out, the plot seemed solid and the adventures were fun. Friendship was made, a home was forged and growth was being achieved. None of that is really left, it's gone demented weird. Its like listening to a hot mess of weirdness. I don't want to turn anyone off with my review as the first books in the series are 100% worth reading. It's just that, by book eight the best parts of the series are gone and replaced by nutty stuff. Want to read about growth in friendship? Nope, how about a demigod swiping right on tender while our protagonist explains how farming other chaos seeds will give him a "sexual like satisfaction". I'm not going to return the book. Ill even give book9 a chance but Ill be reading reviews before doing so, I can't be the only one turned off by how this series is going.

this is one of the standards in the genre. It's rich lore, well though out world and fluid plot make it stand apart from similar books. Nick Podehl is an amazing narrator and seems to have a keen sense of which books to take on.

Opposites attack! When the Magelord Minalan the Spellmonger’s two apprentices, Tyndal and Rondal, were knighted after the battle of Timberwatch, they were dubbed Knights Magi: A new class of nobility for distinguished High Magi. Designed to combine the pursuit of arcane knowledge with the noble aspirations of chivalry, it elevated them above common warmage...in theory. The problem was they had no idea how to be a Knight Mage...because no one had ever been one before.

A well needed set of side quests to add depth to the two younger apprentices. I've very much enjoyed all the books so far, this one was no exception. Outlandish magical storytelling grounded in good morals. It's always fun to compare how they deal with issues presented vs how you imagine you might. 10/10 good fantasy fun.

In After the Ecstasy, the Laundry, Jack Kornfield brings into focus the truth about satori, the awakened state of consciousness, and enlightenment practices today. The result is this extraordinary look at the hard work we all must do - the laundry - no matter how often we experience ecstatic states of consciousness through meditation and other disciplines.
