The Inner Life and Outer Adventures at 60 Something

I enjoyed Mrs Pollifax books 30 plus years ago, so recently thought to see how this fine character has aged. Barbara Rosenblat's performance is excellent as she offers a wide range of accents and emotional registers. Can't wait to find the next book and I hope for the same narrator.

Story
With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

Difficult Subject but a remarkable and Important Story

Alan Cumming has are remarkable range as an actor and performer. He credits the acting he had to do around his abusive father as his first lessons in hiding himself. The memoir alternates between his childhood and later years. It's an effective strategy.

Yet she has not tried to contact Martha since she arrived, leaving her lonely, confused, and a little bit worried. I was delighted by tantalizing mystery of the characters. I don't want to write more because I can't wait to hear the following book.

Story
Extraordinary things happen when we harness the power of both the brain and the heart. Growing up in the high desert of California, Jim Doty was poor, living with an alcoholic father and a mother chronically depressed and paralyzed by a stroke. Today he is the director of the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University, of which the Dalai Lama is a founding benefactor.

This is a terrific book that engages the brain and heart. I've read it and listened to it. My only problem is that the narrator sounds like too much of a professional voice--not what I imagined as I read the book.
I'm left wondering how Dr. Doty sounds.

This program is filled with hilarious and touching tales of the unpredictable Siegfried Farnon, his charming student brother Tristan, and Herriot's first encounters with a beautiful girl named Helen.

We loved the BBC (I assume) series from the Herriot books. Timothy's voice is Herriot's voice. The production is superb and a wonderful reminder to pay attention for wonder and joy.
