Story
Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret - at least, that’s what she thinks.... But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth....

Definitely a well written YA book. Not overly cheesy, but still for young people.

Story
The youngest of her parents’ combined 21 children, Sarah Frey grew up on a struggling farm in southern Illinois, often having to grow, catch, or hunt her own dinner alongside her brothers. She spent much of her early childhood dreaming of running away to the big city - or really anywhere with central heating. At 15, she moved out of her family home and started her own fresh produce delivery business with nothing more than an old pickup truck. Two years later, when the family farm faced inevitable foreclosure, Frey gave up on her dreams of escape and took over the farm.

I struggled at first with Frey's voice. it seemed monotone. But either she gets better or the story got more interesting and I loved it.

Meh.

I will admit the narrator was really dry and I had a hard time with him. Typically I enjoy the reader more when they have an accent, but he just sounded like he was narrating a nature show to me.

Slow
Reviewed: 07-08-20
I was really excited to start this book because of the upcoming movie, but it is very slow. There are likeable characters, and I can see how the ideas and themes influence the sci-fi genre. I honestly felt like I could have edited out 5 hours of it and not missed anything.
