Two women. An office filled with secrets. One terrible crime that can't be taken back. Dawn Schiff is strange. At least, everyone thinks so at Vixed, the nutritional supplement company where Dawn works as an accountant. She never says the right thing. She has no friends. And she is always at her desk at precisely 8:45 a.m.

I like Frieda McFadden books, but this one was painful. Main character Natalie was just so unbelievably dense and the story was just.... not great. The turtle talk was borderline obnoxious. I made myself finish it just to hear the "twist" but the ending was ridiculous too. It's a no for me.

Story
Rex “TW” McMurtry’s perpetual singlehood wouldn’t bother him so much if all his ex-girlfriends didn’t keep marrying the very next person they dated, especially when so many of those grooms are his closest friends. He may be a pro-football defensive end for the Chicago Squalls, but the press only wants to talk about how he’s always a groomsman and never a groom. Bartender Abigail McNerny is the gal-pal, the wing-woman, the she-BFF. Abby is convinced no one on earth could ever entice her into a romantic relationship...except that one guy she’s loved since preschool.

Cute but slow and predictable
Reviewed: 02-04-23
The narrator is great, but the story is drawn out and unrealistic. The main female character is frustrating—- her high school crush is now rich, famous, and finally loves her back….. yet for some reason she is now undecided if she wants him? It didn’t make sense. I will give her other books a try since the reviews are so good. This one was just so-so.

Story
Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Not a fan
Reviewed: 01-07-23
I finished it, but kept rolling my eyes at the unrealistic story. The MC was just annoying. Her brother was just murdered, but she starting a hot new romance…..and no one will tell her anything of her past? It also felt like the book just kept throwing more characters in to have their own spin off book. I really don’t understand all the 5 star reviews. I listen to audibles weekly and not a fan of this one. The one positive is the narrators, two of my favorites.

Plot was not believable, narration was awful. There were at least two editing errors that I noticed— everyone pronounced one characters name as “Deana” and then her husband called her “Dinah”. I forced myself to keep listening because other reviews mentioned the plot twists….. but really there was nothing super shocking that I didn’t already pick up on.
