Stalkers, shootings, and sassy special agents. All part of being famous, right? Well, they are for Oscar-winning actress Amelia Kingston when she starts getting deeply disturbing and threatening notes left by a stalker. When her boyfriend Ty is shot, she calls in the Celebrity Crimes Investigation Agency (CCIA), the elite agency that specializes in solving crimes for the rich and famous. But Amber's insecurity is so annoying and ridiculous. I've listened to all t hat is available and will continue once they are available, because the story itself and the characters are really good. It's that one thing that really bugs me and it's tired and old fashioned. Get Amber some therapy and confidence!

Story
The residents in the small coastal town of Paramour Bay are sorting through their unwanted belongings and setting up card tables in their driveways in order to get ready for their annual community garage sale. Raven Marigold hasn't lived in town long enough to contribute to the garage sale, but she sure is ready to find some basement bargains. Armed with a small reserve of cash and a large tote for her treasure trove, she wasn't prepared for her familiar to make a shocking discovery of an authentic sapphire pendant. And the pendant belonged to a resident...who'd been buried with it.

Change in Narrator
Reviewed: 10-19-22
The change in narrator really matters, at least for me. Especially when you're 6 books in. I liked the story, but struggled to listen due to the new narrator as she was so different from the original.

Really enjoyed this one...

The story has to be good, but honestly if the narrator is awful then it just ruins it for me, not the case here. I have a long commute on the train and I listen to a lot of books. This story was so enjoyable, even if a little predictable, the cast made all the difference and made me want to keep on listening. With all the craziness going on in the world today and with all the terrible things in the news, when I'm on that train I just want to listen to something pleasant and fun. This was both.

Story
Every town has its secrets, but no one has a secret like hers. Amber Blackwood, lifelong resident of Edgehill, Oregon, has earned a reputation for being a semi-reclusive odd duck. Her store The Quirky Whisker is full of curiosities, from extremely potent sleepy teas and ever-burning candles to kids' toys that seem to run endlessly without the aid of batteries. The people of Edgehill think of the Quirky Whisker as an integral part of their feline-obsessed town, but most give Amber herself a wide berth.

I've actually listened to the whole series available and I really enjoyed it. Some of it was slow, but over all the story is good and really made me laugh and smile. Victoria Villarreal does a great job with the story and characters....she's very good with her inflections and voices.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

I was listening to another book and was kind of bored by it. I saw this and thought it would be cute and it was! Very sweet, upbeat listen. The cast did a great job, I really enjoyed it. I listened during my commute home and it ended as my train pulled into the station, which was perfect. Although I did find myself wishing it were longer! Still a great listen.

Story
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Story
It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

Thanks to a series of unfortunate events - and one backstabbing frenemy - home is exactly where I'm headed. Back to Winterspell Lake, where magic runs rampant and humans are outlawed. Faster than you can say hocus pocus I'm unpacking my bags and settling into the guest room of my parents' house, trying to ignore the creeping sensation that I'll never break free again. The one thing Winterspell has going for it is the sweets shop in the center of town, a bakery filled with magical creations designed to enchant the taste buds and charm even the pickiest of connoisseurs.
