Story
December, 2042: The Imperial Legion marches, and war looms on the horizon. Jack Mitchel and his misfit crew of rebels never wanted a fight with the Empire, but the time for diplomacy has passed. Ruthless tech genius Robert Osmark is coming, and trailing behind him is a vast army determined to wipe the Crimson Alliance from the face of Eldgard. Impossibly, Jack has united the warring Murk Elf clans under his banner, but even with their aid, the Alliance is still badly outnumbered, and Osmark has some nasty tricks up his sleeves.

Good Overall Story
Reviewed: 01-19-22
I'm really enjoying the story. My only real complaint is that every single time the narrator describes something in the "game" he changes his tone to simulate a synthetic voice to identify the object. which in itself isn't bad but when he's describing a list and alternating between the synthetic voice and the characters voice it can be pretty aggravating

Better Version
Reviewed: 01-09-22
So, this is my second LitRPG series that I've tried and I think the first one kinda spoiled me because I nearly gave up on this series because I started with Abby's story and that version makes it hard to get into the book. She's too analytical and resistant to becoming immersed into the game. She spends the whole books complaining just about everything seems like and being disgruntled that she constantly has to adjust her mentality that she's in a game that doesn't get her IRL references. Very hard to enjoy her story.
When I saw that her friend Jack had a story I decided to give it a try. And I'm really glad I did. It's like all the mistakes in Abby's story were identified and corrected in Jack's story. Although Jack makes the some references to IRL, he never does it in such a way that takes from the story. A much more enjoyable read and I really hope Jack's story continues and isn't just some one off of someone else's perspective because having to see the story play out from Abby's point of view is gonna be rough.

Slightly Misleading Title
Reviewed: 12-16-21
As my title suggest the title is a little misleading but only in the sense that the book didn't follow the same format as the previous books. (SPOILERS) I expected the big vampire fight to be sooner in the book and not the end.(SPOILERS) That being said, the difference in the way this book was portrayed was a nice breakup of how the other books were and Mr. Halstead seems to be getting better with giving each character their own individuality. I'm completely addicted to this series and I'm not looking forward to it ending.

Excellent Story

A good place to start if you don't know where to begin for the War between the Humans and the Covenant. Literally my only hiccup with the book is Holter Graham doesn't really come off as the SSG Johnson, Avery fans of the games and series have come to know (literally through the whole book I was wondering if it was the same Johnson until I had to look it up) but that doesn't mean he does a poor job. His range for giving each character a distinct voice really helps to immerse yourself in the story. 10/10 would recommend.

Story
The 26th century. Once considered clandestine, the Spartan-II program has now gone public. Tales of armored supersoldiers fending off thousands of Covenant attacks have become the stuff of legend. While the Master Chief defends a besieged Earth and the myriad factions of the Covenant continue their crusade to eliminate humanity, an ultra-secret cell of the Office of Naval Intelligence known as “Section Three” devises a plan to buy the UNSC vital time. It will need hundreds of willing soldiers, though - and one more Spartan - to get the job done.

as my title suggests this book is very good if you want some backstory on what some of the other Spartans are doing. my only real issue with it was it started slow but it finishes really strong

Great story. Narration needs work. Throughout the whole story the narrator seemed to have trouble maintaining the different voices for each character and often the same voice world bleed over to another character. "A" for effort

Great book for anyone who likes more background on the characters from the games they play. The book represents the true aspect of war, meaning, war doesn't play favorites with who lives and dies.
