I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Author paints a fantastic picture & RC Bray is the best at what he does IMO.

Yep, I am, aside from Michael's mom, one of his biggest fans. I've read every Arisen he's put out and loved it all. That said... Brother, I would consider your demographic a little more carefully. I'm not a huge Trump supporter personally, but I am a member of the military community who are, for the most part, pretty Republican... and then you throw SEALs under the bus like last week's trash. I just gotta say, you didn't make a whole lot of friends with this one.

RC Bray is fantastic as usual.

Okay Kevin, it's taken me a while to get used to your way of telling a story, the complete 299 Days series as well as all the Black Autumn books, but I'm on board now. Keep up the good work. I still find it odd that Jason Ross, a real person, would cast himself as a bad guy in spite of any retribution. It took some serious balls to write yourself in like that, Jason. You get top marks and a lot of respect from me for doing that. I bet your left arm itches every time you strap a Longines Hydroconquest to it.
I'm a little disappointed that no artillery was recovered and used against the armor. A 13F would have fit right in with the other hooah, hooah 3 bags full guys. We are often the bridge between SF types and Big Army in more ways than just the obvious. Adjust fire, Jeff, and write one of us into your next novel, pretty please, with a cherry on top. SFC. Hey, I have nothing but respect for the guys this book is talking about. I was military but not in this capacity or even in the same league with these guys. hearing about what they go through to be that level of shooter is interesting and time well spent. That said, I am just now trying to enter this long-range world, and I wanted to hear a few of the tips and tricks that these guys have learned while being deployed all over the world. Brandon starts the book by saying that he's not going to share any sensitive information and, of course, as a fellow military member who's versed in OPSEC, I sure as hell am not asking him to. Does that mean all tips and tricks are sensitive information? You can't go over your tips for mounting a scope to obtaining a tight zero?

After that, the narrator was distracting. He obviously didn't take any time to get to know the material. We all know what BUDs is, but this dude spells it out. Calibers like the 30.06 are said completely wrong. He says the ex in 7.62 x 51.
Come on, bro. Are you a word program, or are you a human. If you're the latter, understand that there's a vernacular within this community, a way some of these things are said. If you read it wrong, you throw off the vibe of the whole book.

Was I there? Yes and no. I was in Iraq during that time frame, so yes. But I was with the 3rd ID, so no. This changes nothing. Like mentioned in the book, a unit's or a soldier's success or failure falls squarely on the shoulders of leadership. I hold the senior leadership as responsible for this atrocity as the troops themselves. in my eyes, they couldn't be more guilty if they were in the room with these guys when they did it. Even if this book doesn't depict events as they actually were, that still means nothing. Every military leader knows that joes get into mischief if left idle or unsupervised. Mentorship, esprit de corps, motivation have always been the mark of great leadership. Suicide, crime, depression, the mark of piss poor leadership. If any of you who are responsible for this action are reading this, understand that your fellow military members hold you in the deepest contempt. 8 the F up doesn't even begin to describe you.

No friend here but an epic journey

After reading a very well written review of this book, I can't help but agree with its author in saying that you will find no friend here. This book is primarily about the Amazons, and therefore, I would ask the author of that review, would he have likely found a friend in them had he been there himself? In Pressfield's epic story, these warrioresses aren't what I would call friendly to anyone including each other. They love each other deeply, they love life deeply, but friendly they are not.

Steven Pressfield takes you back to a time 800 years before the Athens we are familiar with through its written history, to a time of legend. So have a seat and listen to this tale as the firelight bathes its teller's face. No, you won’t find any friends here, but you will be part of something historic.

I have read just about everything Pressfield has written from The Legend of Bagger Vance and Gates of Fire, to Nobody Wants to Read Your Sh*t and The War of Art... and a bunch in between. After Gates of Fire, this is my favorite Pressfield book.

There are a lot of things I'm going to use from this book, yep... even some of the crazy ones. There are some fantastic thoughts expressed between these pages and I feel they can help us get what we want out of life, be that wealth or whatever else we may want. That said, it's a somewhat well known fact that many wealthy people can be somewhat eccentric and Napoleon Hill opens his overcoat to shows us his crazy in the final chapters of the book. As you're reading along thinking everything is good to go, "this guy has got some great points," and then... "wait what did he just say? Okay there Obi-Wan Kenobi." I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is where George Lucas got a lot of his ideas for the Star Wars story, and in that case it did make him rich so there's that... crazy ain't crazy if it works.

I wasn't a spy before I read this book and reading it didn't make me a spy, but it did allow me to see how espionage has shaped our world today. it was a well organized detailed look into the world of real clandestine operations from the beginning of time until now, as well as a take on some fictional characters who muck around in these murky waters.
