Best part of this novel is the use of science knowledge many readers already know to create tense, unique, and entertaining situations. Ryland is an enjoyable protagonist. The plot is partly what you already expect from sci-fi, and partly USING those tropes and expectations in new ways that still feel as familiar as Phillip K Dick stories or old tv shows. The reader can stay one step ahead of the disasters and twists and humor…but not two or three or four. Fun!

Almost as good as the first book! Love how clever and well-planned most of Locke's capers are. It's cool he had to learn nautical life, but there were embarrassing moments for Locke that I feel he could have lied his way out of and simply...let the bad happen. Lots of fun overall! Excellent voice actor!

Noir feel, clever powers, huge justifications for revenge. Or escape. Or growth. This is my kind of brain food!

The Testaments has all the bases covered. World, plot twists, drama, and characters whose journeys you’ll never forget. Aunt Lydia even throws in a few jokes when you least expect them.

Spell slinging, sword fighting, and sarcasm make this book delicious every time. A Barnes and Noble employee recommended this back in 2013 and hoooo doggies has it got a nifty plot! It teaches you about mythology too!

Locke and his crew’s antics make you want to shout, “Yeah, you USE those cruel thief ways of yours to wreck the bigger, crueler thieves!” Also, you will laugh at the creative swearing and you’ll cry at the crewmates Locke loses.

I will never forget how this book made me feel. Like gods are actually here, like I romped with them before, and like confidence can be gained and re-gained no matter what nightmares come up. (Be they dragons or awkward karaoke)

Can’t believe I waited years to read this. Redshirts is the best kind of sci-fi spoof. The kind with its own worldbuilding and heart. It’s got just enough geeky references to make you feel like your life could cross over with the characters, since the geekery has a lot to do w/the plot. One of those, “I knew that was real!” kind of stories. Read it twice. At least.

Warbreaker is excellent epic fantasy. Re-read this twice after the first read in order to enjoy the rich characters and see the layers in the plot twists. Made me laugh too.

Wanderers has a rural-town-America feel at the start, but the oddities, the dangers, and the frequent shifting of what the sleepwalking sickness means kept me intrigued and hungry for answers. And of course, the plot twist in the final chapter is jaw-dropping. Loved it!
