Story
In the heart of China's Sichuan province, amid the terraced hills of the Yangtze River valley, lies the remote town of Fuling. Like many other small cities in this ever-evolving country, Fuling is heading down a new path of change and growth, which came into remarkably sharp focus when Peter Hessler arrived as a Peace Corps volunteer, marking the first time in more than half a century that the city had an American resident.

Any additional comments?
I picked this up on a whim, it was on sale. It started out a bit slowly, but really sucked me in. I really enjoyed it, especially the last 1/2. What a fascinating couple of years he spent in China.

Story
Pocket has been Lear's cherished fool for years. So naturally Pocket is at his brainless, elderly liege's side when Lear demands that his kids swear to him their undying love and devotion. Of course Goneril and Regan are only too happy to brownnose Dad. But Cordelia believes that her father's request is kind of...well...stupid, and her blunt honesty ends up costing her her rightful share of the kingdom and earns her a banishment to boot.

Boring

I love Chrisopher Moore. A Dirty Job is one of my all time favorite books. It took me 2 weeks to wade through this one. It was just plain boring.

I listened to this book a couple of years ago. It was slow in some ways, but though provoking. It's stuck with me, not just in one ear and out the other.

Story
"Alexandra Scott, Alaskan Wilderness Woman". It had a terrific ring to it, but Alex felt a sudden twinge of uncertainty. She'd traded in her Wall Street job and fancy condo for a rundown cabin in the woods and a bait and tackle store. She'd wanted to escape the rat race and to go husband hunting where men outnumbered women four to one, but was she ready for the challenge?

Fluff

Just a bit of fluff if you're bored & don't need to think about anything. Not well researched, remember it doesn't get dark in Fairbanks AK in the summer, it's light all night. And raccoons? Bears yes, raccoons, not living in northern AK.

Story
Santa Vittoria is a fictional town, still remote from the rest of war-torn Italy, where the citizens, led by their wine-loving mayor Bombolini, scheme and plot to prevent the Germans from locating and looting the town's only treasure - its fabulous wine cellars. The inspiration for a famous film, The Secret of Santa Vittoria is an enduring favorite.

Too Long

The sound quality on this recording is pretty bad, very scratchy. The book was OK, it started out pretty interesting but then really bogged down. I only finished it because I'm compulsive about finishing books that I start.

Attempt to buy the booklet.
Reviewed: 05-16-05
I've been using this download and agree that it has been very useful. However I've been attempting to purchase the booklet for over a month, with no success. I call the 800 number and just get a series of voice mail choices. E-mails to Penton Customer Service are not returned. Their web site allows me to purchase the booklet as part of the CD set, but by itself.
