This audible was enlightening and well narrated. I have nothing but good to share. While listening, I was ministered to and would have to rewind several times. I would highly recommend this audible and will listen to it again! Well done.

Story
Marlena Altizer Durst lives in her husband's shadow. He controls her every move - what she wears, the food she eats, and the friends she's allowed to make. If she disobeys, there are...consequences. And he has all the power. To outsiders, it seems that she leads a fairy-tale life. But nobody ever wonders if Cinderella was happy after she married the prince. Marlena has traded freedom and safety for luxurious imprisonment, and most days, that seems like a bad bargain. Death may be the only exit she's allowed. Just like his first wife. And his second. Unless she flips the script.

Now This is a Thriller

This was definitely what I'd enjoy if it were a movie. A lot of twists and turns, and the background and motive was downright sinister. The characters were very likable, as well as the villain. My only complaint is the unnecessary explicit. I was very tempted to stop several times, but now it's time to repent, way too much. The bisexual relationship was unexpected, I skipped those.
Again, minus the bad language, this was an easy and fast listen.

Beth and Cath are leaving their husbands. This is a story about two very different women. One is wealthy and having an affair with a man who gives her the kind of love that her cold, detached husband does not. One is living hand to mouth, suffering at the hands of a violent partner who would rather see her dead than leave him. You may think you know these women already and how their lives will unfold. Beth will live happily ever after with her little girl and her soulmate. Cath will go back to her abusive husband. And these two women will never cross paths. But you will be wrong.

An Awesome Listen
Reviewed: 01-24-23
This was to me an excellent listen. All the right twists and turns. I'm not one who needs to know or figure out "who-did it." Yes, after listening, I was able to figure out some things, but the thrill for me is when the detective begins to give the listener the reasons, why, who, etc. I was sitting on the edge of my seat. It was great to hear the same detective teams used in this audible.
If you're interested in a great story that will build the characters and weave in the others in a timely manner, you will enjoy it. The only negative to me in the story is the foul language. I don't care to hear such language.
Enjoy the ride!!

Story
One sunny August afternoon, the residents of Cedar Close throw their annual summer barbecue. Children play in the cherry-tree lined street, tables are laden with food, and the wine is flowing. For Laurie Mills, it’s her first time meeting the neighbours. And it’s the first time she discovers her husband, Robert, is having an affair. Cedar Close has always been a nice place to live - a quiet suburban street where everyone looks out for one another and bad things don’t happen. Until late one evening, when Robert Mills is found dead in his bedroom.

This was a nice thriller. I loved the story, and the characters were very believable. At times, I felt it was a little drawn out, but overall, I realized the information was needed to connect the dots. The narrator was awesome. It would have been a great audible without the blasphemous language, way too much.

This audible was an inspirational listen. It reaffirms our brokenness and how we as humans are quick to dismiss others for a variety of reasons. Those of us who say we are believers and are followers of Jesus Christ should listen and / or watch stories to remind us of what Jesus did for all of us. Those who don't know or have given up on Jesus, I am heartbroken. From my short walk as a believer, I am learning that my Heavenly Father has always had my best interests at heart.
I will listen to this again and highly recommend this audible.

This was very entertaining, to say the least. Upon hearing the ending, I felt very gullible because I've listened to a similar audible. I did enjoy listening and couldn't wait for the ending. To learn how calculating people can be is sinister. This was a good short listen. I would recommend that if you enjoy the entertainment and not need to figure out who. Enjoy!

I'm am so glad I found another audible with this narrator. I love her voice, how she brings the characters to life. Her humor and wit, a story without sex and profanity. It's cheesy, but it's still a good listen! If you're not the kind of person who has to figure out who has done it, you should enjoy it.

She chases down leads at paparazzi hot spots, celeb homes, and movie premieres, loving every second of it - until someone tries to kill her. And there are no second takes in real life.

This was definitely worth the listen. Just because we can now critique everything, some people's perceptions are off base. That said, once I pressed play, I was "in". I loved the narrator's voice and her nuances, which added to the storyline. Her description was so on point. I laughed quite a bit while listening. The humor was appreciated and well placed within the story. The characters were well developed and likable. There were a lot of twists and turns I appreciated. However, I am not the kind of person who listens to figure out the killer, I like to be surprised! Yes, it was cutesy, and there were literally no curse words and sex. For the most part, this was about as wholesome as a non-Christian story I've listened to.
I'm looking forward to more from this author and or narrator! This is an easy and funny listen.

Life's Lessons and People

I pre-ordered this audible because of the summary. First listen, I was disappointed because of the characters' Southern accent and Ruby. As God allows me to continue my Christ-like walk, He will send people who we may not like as His messengers. I was tested with that exact truth. When God used my sister as His messenger. There's a lot to be said when you hear, "don't shoot the messenger." Had I ignored what the messenger was saying and allowed my flesh to react/respond, I would have missed my blessings during the pandemic. This audible taught me to continue to love my family no matter their dysfunctions. Let bygones go and always stand firm on God's word and love.
We're all broken and faced with a multitude of challenges. Generational curses are real. When death and hatred are spoken over our lives, that can affect our walks, how we interact with people, etc. God usually will turn those ashes into beauty if we allow Him to work on us and through us. The Process!
I would recommend this audible. You should, at the end of this audible, work on becoming a better person and God's servant! God Bless.

I listened to a previous audible by this author and thought I'd give her another listen. Well, she didn't disappoint. It is a very interesting story and a very plausible tale. I loved the narrator, her voice, the emotion. It had just enough twists and turns to throw you off track. I usually don't try to guess because I love the wow, surprised factor. I would definitely recommend this audible!
