Story
Rosie Perez first caught our attention with her fierce dance in the title sequence of Do the Right Thing and has since defined herself as a funny and talented actress who broke boundaries for Latinas in the film industry. What most people would be surprised to learn is that the woman with the big, effervescent personality has a secret straight out of a Dickens novel. At the age of three, Rosie’s life was turned upside down when her mentally ill mother tore her away from the only family she knew and placed her in a Catholic children’s home in New York’s Westchester County.

Too many stories about her relatives and their lives. Very few stories about people we may know (celebrities) Rosey is fun to listen to, But I found myself fast forwarding certain chapters out of boredom.

Story
At first, America knew the only child of Sonny and Cher as Chastity, the cherubic little girl who appeared on her parents' TV show. In later years, she became famous for coming out on a national stage, working with two major organizations toward LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) rights and publishing two books. And just within the past 18 months, Chaz Bono has entered the public consciousness as the most high-profile transgender person ever.

I have a better understanding of the trans community and some of the heartache that trans people go through. Chaz takes you step by step as it happened to her, both mentally and physically. I will say that her voice is very monotone and needed some variation in her speech to convey emotions. But don’t let that stop you from listening to her story.

Could have been much better if Elton would have narrated the entire thing. It was a bit blah.
Elton’s book titled “ME” on the other hand is excellent!!

Story
In this intimate and open account—nothing like any rock-and-roll memoir you’ve ever read—Alex Van Halen shares his personal story of family, friendship, music and brotherly love in a remarkable tribute to his beloved brother and band mate. In his rough yet sweet voice, Alex recounts the brothers’ childhood, first in the Netherlands and then in working class Pasadena, California, with an itinerant musician father and a very proper Indonesian-born mother.

I was really looking forward to this book! But I was so disappointed by it.
Stiff, monotone narration. Even sounding slurred at times. (sorry Alex!)
He never even mentioned the name Sammy Hagar even once! And except a line or two, he didn’t talk about Ed getting Cancer. BUT you can feel how much he loved and misses his brother!
We all miss him!

Story
"Unvarnished. Funny. Leaving no stone unturned"...So say the publishers about this audiobook I've written. What I say is that this is the story of my life, told as clear as a Texas sky and in the same rhythm that I lived it. It's a story of restlessness and the purity of the moment and living right. Of my childhood in Abbott, Texas, to the Pacific Northwest, from Nashville to Hawaii, and all the way back again. Of selling vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias while hosting radio shows and writing song after song, hoping to strike gold.

It’s staggering the number of remarkable things he’s done in his life! The people he has become friends with around the world.
One drawback is.. He only narrates the first chapter and the last. This was disappointing to me, as it would have been much better hearing it in his unique voice. But overall it was very interesting!
