Story
Everyone thinks my husband is dead. Just like we planned. Eleven years ago, my husband disappeared. Eleven long hard years I waited, my heart breaking for our son, who didn’t know his father was coming back. Today, my hands shake as I try to understand what I’ve just learned: my husband has a new wife. This wasn’t part of our plan. Eleven years ago, my husband made a terrible mistake. I sacrificed everything to help him fix it. But now he’s put our son and me in danger again. We had a plan. He broke the rules. But who will pay the price?

Just OK.

Did I hate it, no, did I like it, not really. It was just OK. The Narration was good, I will say that. Oh, and I finished it, so that's something too.
One thing I REALLY hate in a book is repetitiveness, and this book has it in droves. I remember the story; you don't have to repeat it a million times. Either the author thinks the reader/listener is an idiot and can't remember what was said before in the story, or it's a page-filler, Either way, it's annoying.
That's my two cents.

This is one of those books that takes you through some intense emotions. There were times when it even made me cry—books never do that for me.
The story is both heartbreaking and fulfilling. It shows love in all kinds of ways. It also hits hard on the PTSD that comes from veterans who have experienced war at a time when it was not talked about or addressed.
The performance made this book even better. I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much had Julia Whelan not been the narrator. She is amazing!
Just listen to this book, its SO good.

Nobody knows about her intimate connection to Shane Nelson, one of the penitentiary’s most notorious and dangerous inmates.

There are SO many bad things about this book that I am not even going to try to name them all. The narrator was bad, dramatic allllll the time, so annoying.
The main character's son gets bullied for not having a dad. Really? What year are we in? This book was written on 2022, not 1965. Stupid.
Don't bother.

The plane is jam-packed. Every seat is taken. So of course the flight is delayed! Flight attendant Allegra Patel likes her job—she’s generally happy with her life, even if she can’t figure out why she hooks up with a man she barely speaks to—but today is her twenty-eighth birthday. She can think of plenty of things she’d rather be doing than placating a bunch of grumpy passengers.

I thought the book was interesting enough to keep me listening. The performances were excellent. I think if I had READ this book rather than LISTENED to it, I would have stopped midway through. With that said, the narrators were great and made the book an interesting listen.

I have a son who struggles with mental health issues ... this book made me look at things so differently. I learned so much, and feel compelled to listen again.
There is only one thing I need to give feedback on, that is the narration. I think if a professional voice actor did the reading it would have been easier to listen to.
The content was exceptional.

I was 5 hours into this 10-hour book just waiting for something to happen, and this is book 1. I had a long drive and was thinking this would pass the time. Nope! I shut it off. It got to the point where the story was just repetitive. I turned on music and was way happier with my drive.
Boring book. I'm mad I got it on the 2 for 1.

At first, I started to like the book, but then came the "love interest", what a snooze fest. I found myself rolling my eyes at every spoken word. There was nothing hot about these two, nothing. I rolled my eyes and stopped the book. There are a million books out there, this one is NOT WORTH LISTENING TO!!! And ... this is book 1? No thank you.
The performance was decent, that much I will say.
Not for me.

Story
If I had to pick a bride of convenience, my first choice would not be Peach Maloney. My 50th choice would not be Peach. Top spot on my list of occupational hazards? Yes. Royal pain in the crumpets? Yes. A bride of convenience? No. But I've unexpectedly gone from royal bodyguard to monarch, having inherited a crown that was stolen from my family long before my birth. The kicker? In order to take the throne, I must find a wife. Have I mentioned Peach would not have been my 100th choice? But I've no other options, and she needs a favor that my new position can fulfill quite nicely.

I had an hour and a half left and I just couldn't finish it.
First...the narrators... the woman grated at my every nevre. The man ... he was just OK. I'm picky about narration...it can completely ruin a book for me.
Second ... the story. I'm not a prude at all ... but the sex part of this book made me roll my eyes. If I heard Knob and Pu*** one more time I was going to bang my head against the wall. It was SO not sexy. it was cringe worthy. I wanted the story to unfold but the writer was so hung up on the sex between the two that the story got lost. Maybe the story unfolded the last hour and a half of the book that I refused to listen to.
If this wasn't a free book, I would have been mad at the time I wasted listening to it.

Story
As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life - love is a luxury I can’t afford. It isn’t until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I’m brave enough to risk my heart. When who I was and who I’ve tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.

The narration from Julia Whelan made this book! I think with average narration, the book would have fallen flat. I liked the story a lot, the only thing that grated on me was repetition. I think repeating the same thing many times is more filler than a book needs. Other than that, I liked it.
