I wasn’t sure what I was going to think of this book to the point that I almost didn’t want to listen to it. However, this was an excellent book and I am absolutely thrilled at the backstory that we learned about small hope and Penny Royal. I can’t wait to hear more stories and how they connect more in the Chronicles

Story
When level-headed Francie arrives in Roswell, New Mexico, for her college roommate’s UFO-themed wedding—complete with a true-believer bridegroom—she can’t help but roll her eyes at all the wide-eyed talk of aliens, which obviously don’t exist. Imagine her surprise, then, when she is abducted by one. Odder still, her abductor is far from what the popular media have led her to expect, with a body like a tumbleweed and a mass of lightning-fast tentacles. Nor is Francie the only victim of the alien’s abduction spree.

After swooping over the fields and hedgerows of Walmsley Parva, livestock scattering beneath her, she flamboyantly lands the plane on the village green, prompting a startled Edwina to consider a stiff gin fizz. Beryl’s aircraft is not the only disruption of village peace. Miss Dinsdale, a psychic medium, has started holding séances.

Better than the first book and that one was 5 stars too. I love Emily’s prickliness and her focus on her passion for dryadology. She is an amazing character. The narrator is perfect. I did listen to the book at 1.15 speed. I find narrators, in general, speak very slowly

Now, Vincent’s left to pick up the tattered pieces of his humanity as he tries to grow strong enough to keep his family safe. The world is filled with nightmares, and the looming threat of losing his soul stands between his goal and his reality, so it’s not like it will be too hard or anything. Hell should tremble.
