Story
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Another home run by Barbara Kingsolver

For the first 5 hours of listening, I wasn’t sure why I still was… it was so depressing I could have just turned on the news… but per usual, her writing is real and amazing. She always gives us knowledge of another world that sits around us that we may not know much about. Beautifully written and the reader did a great job.

Reads like a novel, not a memoir

This is an amazing story. It feels like a movie, not a memoir. Language is beautiful. Story is raw and honest. Author reads it perfectly, with character and rhythm.
