Story
Kirk Douglas is a born storyteller, and in this engrossing memoir, he offers wonderful tales, favorite jokes, and hard-won insights. As he explores the mixed blessings of growing older, he looks back at his youth and his glamorous life in Hollywood. He tells delightful stories of the making of such films as Spartacus and includes anecdotes about such friends as Frank Sinatra, Lauren Bacall, Ronald Reagan, Fred Astaire, John Wayne, and Johnny Cash.

Enjoyed this warm and engaging book

Some most interesting insights and very well narrated. I pray that before Kirk Douglas died, he may have found out that Christians actually do not hate the Jews for killing Jesus, but that the actions of the Jewish leaders resulted in our salvation and resurrection because Jesus rose physically from the dead three days later, defeating the power of sin and death.

Story
The grand truth of election takes us back to the beginning of all things. It predated the entrance of sin into the world, the fall of man, the incarnation of Christ, and the proclamation of the gospel. A correct understanding of it, especially in its relation to the everlasting covenant, is absolutely essential if we are to be kept from fundamental error. If the foundation be faulty, then the building erected upon it cannot be sound; and if we err in our conceptions of this basic truth, then in just proportion, so will our grasp of all other truth be inaccurate.

An excellent book
Reviewed: 10-22-20
I truly appreciated the balanced and sensitive approach used in presenting this often-times misunderstood yet vitally important doctrine.
There is an unacceptably high number of people who, in the main, testify of their former Christian walk and experience, yet have abandoned it to become atheistic in their worldview. WHY?
This book provides the answer.
It is a tragic reality of today's Christian church being content with increasing numbers of people attending church, but with little to no genuine discipleship and serious study of the Word of God, as authoritative and true.
How many come every week, yet fail to have a genuine heart-change by God? How many genuinely believe that their church and spiritual experience must be what Christianity is, yet their hearts are, in fact, far from Him?
This is a serious issue that the Christian church worldwide must overcome by genuine discipleship and treasuring God's Word rather than using all manner of human interpretations to try to compromise and sweeten the bitter realities contained therein.

I greatly benefitted from reading and listening to this book. The second reading of it was even better than my first. Highly recommend it.
The author's extensive use of Scripture to support his position was truly wonderful.

A great plot with nice twists and turns

Loved the story but the very occasional swearing and blasphemy was a disappointment for an otherwise absolutely wonderfully written and presented story.

Story
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.

Story
In Search Of Black History with Bonnie Greer brings you face-to-face with the people you never knew existed. People whose stories tell us a different tale about who we all are. From the earliest glimmerings of modern humanity, up to the present day, Bonnie Greer uncovers the lives of people of African descent that don’t fit with the accepted history of Western Civilisation we’ve traditionally been taught. From saints, to philosophers, to warrior women and king’s heralds - these people’s lives have been lost, hidden and distorted down the centuries.

Most interesting historical presentation
Reviewed: 07-03-20
A very balanced, very thought provoking, well researched presentation.
Recent genetics research by Dr Nathaniel Jeanson using data from the male Y-Chromosome is pointing towards a much more recent human history and one that confirms we are all much more closely related than ever thought...a theme similarly brought out in Episode 2.
