Fun story, excellent narration

Fun, light mystery for those days when you don't need horror or darkness, just a sweet little murder. I enjoy this character and it makes mowing the lawn and driving in traffic so much nicer. Great period fiction. Can't wait to listen to the next one in the series!

Story
Summer 1940: Hedy Bercu fled Vienna two years ago. Now she watches the skies over Jersey for German planes, convinced that an invasion is imminent. When it finally comes, there is no counterattack from Allied forces - the Channel Islands are simply not worth defending. Most islanders and occupying forces settle into an uneasy coexistence, but for Hedy, the situation is perilously different. For Hedy is Jewish — a fact that could mean deportation, or worse.

Great story, just a little too much romance for me
Reviewed: 03-23-22
Story was wonderful, as was the narration, but the amount of sex, basically, was more than I am interested in reading about. It was scattered throughout the story and, imho, did not add to it. There's also a bit of swearing. If I was reading, I would have just skipped over these parts, I do not enjoy romance novels at all. I listen aloud to these in my home and have pre-teens and teens around and prefer to not have this type of audio on around them.

Story
There’s more to the swamplands than meets the teeth. In this supernatural tale of magic and mysticism, Henry Lemarchand grew up in Philadelphia knowing very little of his family—his father disappeared when he was young, leaving behind only a strange pouch of animal teeth. When he is sent to the Louisiana bayou to spend the summer with his eccentric uncle and cousin in their decaying ancestral mansion, Henry learns about his family’s supernatural legacy.
