Sweet Fake Dating Love Story!
Reviewed: 03-22-25
Fake the Game is book two in Julia Jarrett’s Vancouver Tridents series. Maverick’s story intrigued me when he was introduced in Break the Rules. A misunderstood bad boy with a turbulent past and a lot of heart? Yes, please! Sadie is a compassionate, sweetheart FMC. Sparks fly when Mav rescues Specs from a run-in with her toxic ex. I loved how Sadie helped him heal past wounds and Mav helped her regain her confidence. A mutually beneficial fake relationship, a grumpy & guilt-ridden ball player, and a beguiling & brilliant beauty make for a charming romance.
Heather Firth and Dane Anderson were terrific as Sadie and Maverick. Heather gave a passionate and delightful performance to bring Sadie to life. Dane’s growly & gruff timbre was perfect for the broken, crunchy cinnamon roll Maverick. I enjoyed the balance of Heather and Dane’s styles and energy. These two make a wonderful duo, and I hope to hear more titles with this narration team soon!

The day my wife slept with my best friend, everything fell apart. There was only one person I could turn to–my teammate and secret desire, Trinity "Taz" Guerro. We shared one passionate night. I woke up alone, without even a note on the dresser. She called it a mistake. I called it a new beginning.

Fire for Effect is a fast-paced, emotional, heart-melting love story. The twists were shocking and the family dynamics hit deep. Kai “Griff” Griffith is a special forces operative with a heart of platinum. Trinity “Taz” Guerro is a former Army Ranger and lovable bad bish. How Molly’s writing can make me clench my jaw and cackle in an intense chapter is fascinating. I’m obsessed with Molly Briar’s storytelling and smitten with the entire Cerberus team.
Molly Briar and Jack Hill were incredible in their performances of Taz and Kai! Jack spectacularly portrayed
the jaded operative who has proven he will dive into death’s path to save his best friend. I melted for Kai when I first read Fire for Effect, and Jack delivered our book husband, Kai, perfectly. The craft and care Molly pours into her characters dazzles me every time, especially when she brings that passion to the booth in her narrations. These characters jump off the page and captivate through every twist and turn of this he-falls-first, friends-to-lovers romantic suspense audiobook!

Ryan’s portrayal of the angsty, romantic AF, dirty-talking boxer was everything. These two ripped my heart out and melted it back together with their phenomenal performances of this wonderful love story.

If you're looking for a quick and dirty audiobook with well-developed characters and a gripping story, Call Him Daddy is a must-listen. Katie does not pull any punches in this twisted age-gap romance, which I found refreshing and loved. She wrote heaps of heart and character complexity in the grit of this love story. Watch your step, the cliffy at the end is a doozie!
Molly Briar and Ryan Stone were phenomenal in their performances as Aria and Theo! Molly's variation in vocal choices for the female characters in this audio was perfect. Diabolically so. Ryan's portrayal of the wealthy, mature, dirty-mouthed Theo was, well, just dayyyum. Molly and Ryan are a terrific narrator duo and I can't wait for more! I am feral for the rest of Aria and Theo's story!

“I do.” Words I never thought would escape my lips. Now they bound me to the charismatic head of the Volkov Bratva, Nikolai Volkov. His mesmerizing blue eyes, charming smile, and silky smooth voice would be my downfall, and yet, also my salvation. The two simple words would also be a personal vow to destroy my stepmother and enemies. If I’m forced to be bound to the mafia life forever then I’ll show them all. I’ll show them how far this ‘angel’ has fallen. I’m not a pawn like they all think.

Thrilling Mafia Romance
Reviewed: 12-29-24
The Bratva’s Bride was my first book by Rose Chase and she grabbed me the first moment Nikolai Volkov crashed into Angel’s life. This was an action-packed, spicy, forced marriage romance. When a truce is struck by marrying the Bratva Pakhan to the Triad heir, Angel begins to scheme for revenge. Nikolai and his brothers were terrific, Angel is a bad boss bish ER nurse and a lethal force of nature. This spicy mafia book will keep you on your toes. I did feel the plot dragged a bit at times, but overall this story was entertaining and schmexy.
I honestly had mixed feelings about this audiobook. Molly Briar was fantastic as Angel! Her fierce and compassionate vibe brought Angel to life flawlessly. She portrayed Angel’s unstoppable, vicious mob princess with a heart of gold with a fabulous performance! I have been enjoying Cole’s storytelling style in recent narrations. I struggled a bit with the pacing and accent choices of this narration. While perfectly consistent, the Russian accent wasn’t my favorite. His portrayal of Nikolai was passionate, seductive, and spine-chilling with “touch her and die” intensity. I was intrigued by the Bratva brothers and would continue this series.

Except the crush I have on her makes me think about doing things like smiling all day and patching up my relationship with my brother.

The Bedd Fellows Farm shenanigans continue in Liz Alden’s Butter You Up. Liz dives deeper into the Bedd family dynamics and past events that created rifts among the five siblings. When Ethel invited vanlife adventurer Molly Perkins to work at the farm, no one expected the deeply healing impact their arrangement would bring. When Molly meets Alex Bedd at Udderly Creamy dairy farm, sparks instantly crackle. The chemistry between Molly & Alex was magnetic. I loved their grumpy/sunshine dynamic. Butter You Up is a fun and heartwarming small-town, farm-life romcom. Liz’s writing is witty, charming, and amoosingly punny. Alex’s best friend Kit stole the show a few times and as usual, Ethel was a ray of matchmaking sunshine.
Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge continue to shine as they bring the Bedd family and the fabaalously quirky Fork Lick to life. Queen of Romcom Erin portrayed Molly with a fun and heartfelt performance. Alastair captured Alex’s emotional arc perfectly with a wonderfully dynamic narration. For the love of baby goats and strawberry crumble, add Butter You Up to your TBL today!

I know what I’m hiding. But the guy I left in bed after a steamy one-night stand…I haven’t a clue what’s going on behind those Clark Kent glasses of his. I’ve met his goofy dog Gomer, his social media-obsessed grandmother, and his sheep that lives in a palace. I know he wears a three-piece suit and a flannel shirt equally well–not to mention what he looks like underneath. I know he abruptly quit his job at that evil conglomerate.

From a steamy one-night stand to a professional standoff, Sam and Diane’s love story was exciting from page one! I love a good “hot stranger rescuing the FMC from the creep at the bar” setup! A fake boyfriend sweeping in for the rescue is swoony and hot, especially when the MMC has an alluring voice that captivates the FMC “like a flower to the sun”. Diane and Sam’s chemistry was sizzling and their flirty banter & chippy bickering were equally cute. If you like a good arguing-to-makeout moment, you are in for a treat and a kiss so hot it’s a wonder the barn didn’t catch fire! Sam and his dog Gomer will melt your heart. Family dynamics, working through guilt, and managing grief are only a few of the touching issues Karen explores that make this charming rom-com a wonderful read. For the love of trivia and strawberries, this book was funny, and sweet, and left me a swoony puddle of mush at the end.
Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge brought Karen’s first contemporary romance off the page perfectly. Alastair captured Sam’s relatable, heartwrenching, sweet character arc to life with an outstanding performance. I loved Sam when I first read the book, and Alastair’s narration evoked the smitten swooning all over again! Erin’s portrayal of Diane’s kindhearted, relentless, sultry character was charming. She is unwaveringly marvelous at bringing humor and heart to life in her performances. I cannot get enough of this duo! Bring on more Bedd Farms fun!

Waking up hungover in the sheep pen is the least of my problems. The worst? A foreclosure notice for my family farm. Scratch that. The actual worst is the woman delivering the news: my ex, who broke my heart and left me behind for the big city. I’ve spent a decade trying to forget Lia Thorne, and now she’s the only one who can help my family dig ourselves out from our crushing debt and even stronger egos.

Oh my goodness, ewe have got to read Since You’ve Bean Gone by Lainey Davis! This heartfelt, cheeky, pun-filled romcom was such a fun start to the Farm 2 Forking series! Can she mend fences and melt his hardened heart too? I love the Bedd family and Baabara was hilarious! Once they lay their cards on the table, Lia and Ethan are an unstoppable team. The way he jumps into his second chance to care for her and she breaks down his grump barricade melted my heart like butter!

“People in glass houses shouldn’t throw hockey pucks!”
Be still my ducking heart, A Major Puck Up was hands down one of the best romances I’ve listened to this year! It’s going in my hockey (romance) hall of fame list. I don’t know that I’ve been gobsmacked this much by a Brittanée Nicole book since the Whiskey Duet! Thank goodness A Major Puck Up didn’t end in a cliffy! Millie and Gavin were enchanting, they had explosive chemistry, and were just so dang cute together! The Langfield family group texts were hilarious. The hockey family energy was off-the-charts, and the spice was hot enough to melt the ice. The Langfield brothers trying to do pregnancy math made me snort-laugh. A Major Puck Up had wonderful family healing moments and fainting couch worthy romance. My heart is so full after listening to Gavin & Millie’s love story.
Jason Clarke and Avery Caris were the perfect choices to bring Gavin Langfield and Millie Hall to life. Their dynamic performances voiced each character uniquely and with endearing passion. I was swept up in every second of this story from start to finish. If you’re a hockey-loving listener who enjoys goofy family (both blood and chosen), age-gap romance, Lisa Frank, and lots of ducking fun, A Major Puck Up is a must-listen!
