Story
On a day that begins like any other, Hal receives a mysterious letter bequeathing her a substantial inheritance. She realizes very quickly that the letter was sent to the wrong person - but also that the cold-reading skills she's honed as a tarot card reader might help her claim the money. Soon, Hal finds herself at the funeral of the deceased...where it dawns on her that there is something very, very wrong about this strange situation and the inheritance at the center of it. Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware's signature suspenseful style, an addictive thriller.

Loved this story and Imogene Church is hands down THE best. Such great district characters. The story moved along nicely a few turns although I guessed who the father was at one point, I found myself second guessing and giving up entirely!

Story
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred. It’s now 1983, and home-health aide Kit McDeere arrives at a decaying Hope’s End to care for Lenora after her previous nurse fled in the middle of the night.

From the start, I needed to find out what happened at Hope’s End. The twist was great. I normally can foresee who did what but my mind had worked out a different twist than the Author, so I was surprised. Great character narration. Not really a thriller I would say but good nonetheless. Highly recommended.

Story
When a young man is found gruesomely murdered in a London houseboat, it triggers questions about three women who knew him. Laura is the troubled one-night-stand last seen in the victim’s home. Carla is his grief-stricken aunt, already mourning the recent death of yet another family member. And Miriam is the nosy neighbor clearly keeping secrets from the police. Three women with separate connections to the victim. Three women who are – for different reasons – simmering with resentment. Who are, whether they know it or not, burning to right the wrongs done to them.

One of the BEST

I had a hard time in the beginning getting all the characters straight, but that could have been simply outside distraction. The puzzle pieces started to fit and became a great story. Although I knew who had done it, and why pretty early, I enjoyed the characters especially Irine and Laura. I didn’t see the twist until Miriam got a chill up her spine and then I knew, things were not over. Great story.

One year later, a writer moves into a cottage on the edge of the woods that border the same estate. Loved this book. I saw a much darker ending for this one and was pleasantly surprised. Although, whining privileged teenagers is not my cup of tea there was balance and believability to the characters. My heart aches to know what happened and I also love old places and their history so this book was good on multiple levels. Enjoy!

Leonora, known to some as Lee and others as Nora, is a reclusive crime writer, unwilling to leave her nest of an apartment unless it is absolutely necessary. When a friend she hasn't seen or spoken to in years unexpectedly invites Nora ( Lee) to a weekend away in an eerie glass house deep in the English countryside, she reluctantly agrees to make the trip. Forty-eight hours later, she wakes up in a hospital bed injured but alive, with the knowledge that someone is dead.

Imogene Church always narrates in a way that you can distinguish each character and in my opinion is one of the best. This particular story is good but slightly predictable. I got the bad guy very early on. But solid story line good anticipation, good character development equals a good “read”.

When she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss - a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten - by the luxurious “smart” home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family. What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare - one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder.

I started out loving this story. Characters are great and I love weddings so having that as an element was really appealing. However this story was predictable for me. I did know the who done it, but I guessed the twist. I usually am really good at figuring out everything early on. The different character voices were great. Overall I liked the story.
