Interesting history ruined by narrator ignorant of European names and pronunciation which made it confusing. Almost returned it. Audible needs to make more of an effort to recruit high standard readers

But as it was written 8 years ago VERY out of date in Trump times. Some good points and Kaplan is extremely well read and widely traveled

A necessary reminder of both Europe and America's ignoring of Hitler. It is not just France and the UK who tried to appease
Hitler, America willfully refused to confront Hitler's aggression and destruction of democratic norms in Germany and Europe,
while also ignoring Japans conquering of China and threatening hegemonic control of the far East.

One general went on to become president and many officers to fight on both sides in the Civil War.
The book was ok, but severally marred by a monotonis reader.
In fact any excitement that happened on the battle field elicited no change in tone.
Was happy to stop listening.

In order to understand religion today one needs to start at the very least with the Reformation.
Fatal Discord takes one back to the origin of Christianity and the bible, and the schism that rent it in the 16th century.

Sadly, the narrator cannot properly pronounce the many European places and words, and when he refers to
'thesis' it sounds like feces.
Someone familiar with European languages and their pronunciations would have been a better choice than
Tom Parks who has a very American accent with no ability to navigate un English words
