Story
Often called Paul’s magnum opus, Romans has been pivotal to Christians’ understanding of salvation for generations. It had a profound influence on Augustine and Luther. Calvin saw it as the key to understanding all of Scripture. In this volume, Dr. R.C. Sproul introduces us to Paul’s fullest, grandest, most comprehensive statement of the gospel and explains why it is just as vital for believers today as it has been for believers throughout history. Verse by verse, Dr. Sproul unfolds the vast truths that Paul has clearly and carefully woven throughout this book.

Romans is difficult

The narrator for the Sproul books is really good.
For me, Romans was very difficult to read on my own. I am currently a non-denominal Christian who came to Christ and received the holy spirit.
This book almost broke me... Don't give up on it. Paul really beats us down until you are ready to give up hope. But, then the turn comes. Sproul does a wonderful job to let you know the turn is coming.
I went from hating this book to loving it in a single day.
Sproul did a great job on this.
I think you will enjoy it.

Story
Many people today think the Bible, the most influential book in world history, is not only outdated but irrelevant, irrational, and even immoral. This explanation of the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, demonstrates clearly and powerfully that the opposite is true. The Bible remains profoundly relevant - both to the great issues of our day and to each individual life. It is the greatest moral guide and source of wisdom ever written.

I wish Dennis Prager had narrated it

I have to be honest and say that this audio book was a big disappointment. Dennis Prager has a website you can join and he has recording of his torah teachings. I did it once and listened to it. I especially enjoyed his torah teaching on Genesis. The quality of the audio of these old recordings was bad... but I was expecting the Rational Bible series to be better.
Here is why this audio book doesn't work. It provides a reading of the bible followed by commentary. However, commentary just sounds flat when being dictated by "not Dennis Prager". For example, let's say you publish the "I have a dream" speech but it's read by Al Gore. Or, the Gettysburg address read by Bill Gates. Dennis really should have recorded the audio his own audiobook. I mean... he speaks for a living!
I think he says this series is his Magnum Opus, but if it was then why not read it himself???
I won't buy any more of the Living Bible series. That make me sad because I was looking forward to it. Maybe if I read the book I would enjoy it more. But, my eyes are getting old and reading is not enjoyable for me anymore.
I am a Christian and my goal is to read the whole bible FINALLY. I finished the New Testament this year and loved it. I was depending on the Living Bible series to get me through the Old Testament but now I need to find another source.
O.k. one thing the book says is correct. The old testament is just full of stories of dysfunctional people

This book gave me comfort after my wife passed

I enjoyed this book. However, it is talking about communicating with dead people so if you are very skeptical about this topic you probably won't like this book. I did find her stories honest and believable. I feel that her stories are real in her own mind and also that she is not trying to scam people. For someone trying to deal with a lost loved one the book really gives you hope. So, I definitely recommend it if you are grieving an also a spiritual person. I am a Christian, and I never thought that her stories are not compatible with my Christian faith. The only thing I don't like about the book are the stories where she claims to learn the names of people and other facts from the spirit world. If mediums had this much power every police station in the country would employ one. However, in this case I believe she is just using embellishment to make her stories more interesting and make the book more enjoyable to read. I am fine with that.
