Story
Marissa Irvine arrives at 14 Tudor Grove, expecting to pick up her young son Milo from his first playdate with a boy at his new school. But the woman who answers the door isn't a mother she recognises. She isn't the nanny. She doesn't have Milo. And so begins every parent's worst nightmare. As news of the disappearance filters through the quiet Dublin suburb and an unexpected suspect is named, whispers start to spread about the women most closely connected to the shocking event. Because only one of them may have taken Milo - but they could all be blamed.

They call books like this having “surprising twists“
Reviewed: 01-25-25
Although they called books like this having “unexpected or surprising twist“, I call it unnecessary complication. As I got to the last hour, I became more and more frustrated. It became so confusing about motives, and who did what to whom and why. Eventually, I stopped listening to it before the end. I think there is possibility and these sorts of books, but it gets to be so ridiculous at the end when they reveal motives. Overall unrealistically complicated

I hated this book. Jumped to the last 38 minutes just to see how it ended and it was as ridiculous as the rest that I listen to. I do not recommend.

Story
Meghan, Brecia, and Skye have just one thing in common. They were all murdered by the same man. He hunted them online, masquerading as an eligible bachelor. Then he played the perfect gentleman, a thick layer of charm and a thousand-watt smile hiding the fact that his first dates end in shallow graves. He’s gotten away with murder three times now. The only thing that might keep him from killing again? The women he murdered. Meghan, Brecia, and Skye might be dead, but they’re not gone. They’ve found each other. And they won’t rest until they find a way to stop him.

Phenomenal change in the same old thing
Reviewed: 08-24-24
I’m always looking for books that have a different plot. I am becoming incredibly bored with the same old scenario on many of this genre mysteries/thriller. It was so great to find some thing so unusual and fun to read with a great plot.

Unnecessarily complicated
Reviewed: 07-18-24
I absolutely loved the first 3/4 of this book. Very much wanted to stay up all night trying to finish it. The plot had ripped. However, the ending was outrageously complicated and unnecessary. I even went back and read the last few chapters to try to understand how it all fit together. Overall, very disappointed and unnecessarily complicated, but in my mind. This is why I gave it a lower down. I hate it do this at the end, throw a lot of chaos of the plot and please get frustrated.

Everything my husband and I have always dreamt of has finally come true. Our new home with its open-plan kitchen and marble countertops couldn’t be further from the small, damp flat where we lived only months ago. I’d hoped this would be our fresh start, an escape from my past, but the handwritten note that arrived on our doorstep makes my blood run cold – you don’t deserve this life.

Not my favorite

I usually love this narrator, but in this book she drives me bonkers. Too many high-pitched voices. Also I found two areas in the book where there were editing issues. Where the sentences were read twice, each one with different inflections. Some thing the editing should have taken out. That always bothers me when it’s done sloppy. And overall, the book is OK, but I thought the plot twist was Quite ridiculous. It would’ve been better if it was shorter, the characters were developed more, and the plots weren’t so complicated that it make you roll your eyes.

Story
Ess wakes up alone on a sailboat in the remote Pacific Northwest with no memory of who she is or how she got there. She finds a note, but it’s more warning than comfort: Start over. Don’t make yourself known. Don’t look back. Ess must have answers. She sails over a turbulent ocean to a town hundreds of miles away that, she hopes, might offer insight. The chilling clues she uncovers point to a desperate attempt at erasing her former life. But why? And someone is watching her … someone who knows she must never learn her truth.

I am a quitter. The story looks so good and I really tried… But I just simply cannot get past the narrator. It’s almost like she’s mumbling, and even though I have read/listen to other audiobooks where the narrator makes me cringe a little bit, and still got through them… I just can’t.

I close the binder I’ve been writing in, and walk into the living room. As I stare out of the window at your house next door, I think about all the things I stand to lose if someone comes for me. My handsome, loving husband, who has no idea what I’ve done. My family, who have supported me no matter what. This beautiful home near the ocean, where I thought I would be safe.

I honestly have never been more confused about the reasoning or plot in a book. I actually rewound and listen several times to try to connect all the dots in this very confusing story. Still makes absolutely no sense. I feel like it was finished off very quickly and, I would not recommend it.

She seduces a 15-year-old admirer, Jimmy, and persuades him to do her dirty work. Mission accomplished, Suzanne takes to the airwaves in her new role as grieving widow, in search of a TV deal. If that means selling Jimmy down the river, she’s ready.

The Pamela Smart story
Reviewed: 04-02-24
I’m surprised nobody else has mentioned that this is basically the Pamela Smart story. The teacher in New Hampshire who enticed teenage boys to murder her husband in the 90s. If you read this book through that lens, this is characters voice is so perfect. Sounds like a manipulative, fake, and non-credible facts. I rated the story low because it really seem to be just a rehash of the Pamela Smart crime.

I listen to this in one day. So exciting and fun to have a book that captures me from the beginning to the very end. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. The only downside is, now when I go to find another book to read nothing will live up to this one. These are very few and far between anymore.

This looks like an interesting storyline. Nowadays, there are so many suspense/thriller books that have the same type of storyline. I ended up fast forwarding through to the end of this book, because I felt very bored. It was very slow and ironically, I was able to guess the ending about halfway through the book. also, I thought the characters were very shallow and not developed at all. I will continue searching for the next great read. This just was not it.
