The best value for a credit in a long time

Nick Podehl was outstanding as usual. He has always been one of my top 3 favorite audiobook voice-actors. While the story has some weak areas it is still entertaining. Overall, 38 hours of audiobook combined with a great narrator and interesting plot make this a must-have in any Fantasy-lover's library.

Story
Maulkin and his Eternal buddies are on a roll. They're getting stronger, have two of the shards that will help prevent the return of an evil god, and even have a good idea where to find the rest. Maybe Maulkin has taken a month off to hang out with his new elven girlfriend and learn how to swing his giant sword around, but hasn't he earned a holiday?

Good but could have been great.

I enjoyed the first book and about ¾ of this one. Characters, both main and otherwise, are very frustrating at times. The MC is dumb and while it's funny there are instances when it's too much. Simple explanations could have had tremendous impact on certain events.
ALL of the bad guys are stuck up, two-faced, lying bullies and the narration makes them so much worse. The narrator is good it's the dialogue that's the issue. Mercy is awesome and hilarious in the first book. In this one she's hateful and whiny. I actually felt bad for the abuse the MC had to go through from both enemies and allies.

Story
Jax and his people have raided the City of Fallen Souls, but just because you've grabbed the loot doesn't mean you're home free. They need to escape, they need to make changes, and they need to improve on the incomplete and barely manned ships they stole, and with the city, not to mention the Dark Legion gearing for war, he has only one choice available.

My favorite LitRPG series. The narration in the first audiobook is rough and throughout the series it's not perfect but it gets better. The various female characters narration can sound the same but Wayne Mitchell does a great job with the male characters and characters of different species/races. You really get pulled into the story.

Story
Fifteen years have passed since the end of the war with demons, creatures of darkness who have hunted the night and plagued humanity since time out of mind. The heroes of humanity’s hour of need have become legend, and those who remain struggle to escape their shadows. Olive Paper and Darin Bales have grown up in this new peaceful world. Demons have been all but destroyed, but dangers still lurk for the children of heroes.

It had so much potential, but it just didn't enthrall me as "The Demon Cycle" did. While there were great parts to the story such as unique characters and plot twists, the mediocre narration really took away from the experience. Also, the story was obviously connected to the original series but it had a completely different vibe to it. Since I enjoyed listening to the audiobook, I would recommend it for the most part, though I hope the next book in the series steps things up a bit.

When The Sandman, also known as Lord Morpheus - the immortal king of dreams, stories and the imagination - is pulled from his realm and imprisoned on Earth by a nefarious cult, he languishes for decades before finally escaping. Once free, he must retrieve the three “tools” that will restore his power and help him to rebuild his dominion, which has deteriorated in his absence.

I listened to this audiobook not knowing any history about the graphic novel or anything else. It was basically a collection of short stories and while some were interesting others were bland or predictable. On a positive note, the voice acting for most of the character was great.

Story
The galaxy remembers Hadrian Marlowe as a hero: the man who burned every last alien Cielcin from the sky. They remember him as a monster: the devil who destroyed a sun, casually annihilating four billion human lives - even the emperor himself - against Imperial orders. But Hadrian was not a hero. He was not a monster. He was not even a soldier. Fleeing his father and a future as a torturer, Hadrian finds himself stranded on a strange, backwater world.
