Story
For years, while Iran and North Korea kept Western diplomats busy, China and Russia have been quietly seeding the US with spies and soldiers. Now, a silent army of occupation lurks inside US borders, and for America, it is already too late. When the assault begins—via an EMP strike that disables the US electrical grid and neutralizes her defenses all in one fell swoop—the US is caught completely unprepared. The nation is lost, and it is up to ordinary citizens to defend their cities, towns, neighborhoods, or even just their families.

Wonderfully imaginative mil-sf
Reviewed: 12-30-24
Often poignant and full of action. This is a different kind of Mil-SF but also has all the stuff you want. Cole’s insight into the military mind is top-notch and often wise words are paired with jokes and personalities that you really grow to love the ending was great and I look forward to how this series is continuing on. the narration is also top notch.

Solid continuation
Reviewed: 12-11-24
The most interesting part of this series has been the planetary defense, and it has certainly gone end directions. I didn’t anticipate, but also has addressed that desire to see an OP main character. There is some engaging character moments, but the main drawback for me was not really caring about the story or who survives.

Just the Refresh I Needed
Reviewed: 12-02-24
The cover hooked me with this romanticized idea of what it might be like to own a shop in the middle of a fantasy realm. I was immediately taken by the main character Theo and his unexpected Journey into this foreign land. Theo drew me in with his establishment as a demon with the opportunity to unlock rare an epic opportunities inside a long abandoned alchemy shop.
By the time he meets his partner, a newt marshling with a unique bonding spell, I knew I was in for a treat. The stats with small things like potions, buildings, and what their properties are has a fun and easy system to get into.
All in all, it was a great story from start to finish with excellent narration, invoking a regal, yet laid-back and entertaining tale of alchemic mastery, friendship, and townbuilding that stays cozy, while offering a glimpse to a very real world of adventurers and dungeons.

Story
Bruce Silver is the author of the Riftbreaker novels, one of the most popular, beloved fantasy book series of all time. He's got everything he's ever dreamed of having: freedom to tell the stories he wants to tell, legions of enthusiastic fans who wait eagerly to see what he'll write next, and a really nice car. But despite all that, Bruce finds himself dissatisfied, battling an ennui he can't quite put his finger on. So he decides to do what anyone would do in his situation: burn it all down by unexpectedly killing off Carpathian Einzgear, Riftbreaker's cherished hero.

Delightfully creative and so funny it’ll make you leak
Reviewed: 11-01-24
Meet Your Maker is one of the best books I’ve ever enjoyed. I came having loved big sneaky barbarian, which was written by Seth, narrated by Jonathan and which led to them forming this writing duo for this project. Well, it’s hard to imagine an improvement of BSS as possible for Seth‘s next book, I think the input of Jonathan in writing had to have impacted not only the dialogue but also no doubt it helped to have two people working on the book’s somewhat complex made simple for our enjoyment worldbuilding system, and two toned narrative between Bruce in the present and the fantasy novel he wrote, which subtly informs our mystery and the hunt for the nexus core.
If you have one credit to spend on LitRPG this year, it should be on this book !

Sorry... Really? Thrust? Anyway, Danny Kendrick was a down-on-his luck performer who always struggled to find his place. He certainly never wanted to be a hero. He just hoped to earn a living doing what he loved. That all changes when he pisses off the wrong guy and gets sucked into a fantasy realm straight out of a Renaissance Fair. Getting used to a new world is tough. It's even tougher when you're surrounded by axe-wielding barbarians, super hot elf assassins, strange magic, and a jaded System that doesn't appear interested in being charged with yet another companion.

An unexpected hero follows a washed up, guitarist playing covers at bars instead of following his dream of being on the road, is portaled into a fantasy world, where he uses his bard skills to become a better musician and person. I really enjoyed the realism and all the characters and the audio sound effects. I’ll definitely be getting the next one.

Arthur lives with his father, a fallen but proud former noble, in Border Village #49, along with the other good folks condemned to toil in service to the Baron. But Arthur has an edge: a stolen heart card that secretly fell into his possession, thanks to a dragon. It’s a priceless source of power for the Baron and the tyrant will kill to get it back. Invaluable, too, to a young man of spellcasting ambitions.
