Nice change for the genre

While I was disappointed as to the lack of detail leading up to "beginning of the end", I was very impressed with character development and the whole series, including the wrap up. I also liked that Horton didn't add a ton of unnecessary characters, any sexual corruption, or any character side stories. Honestly it makes the top of my list for most entertaining.

I seriously have nothing negative to say about this! I've listened to dozens of books with Pierce as the narrator, but this was my first AJ Newman book. It was well thought out and very well developed! And unlike other series in the POST apocalyptic genre, this one has a clear ending! Very well done AJ Newman! Thank you

Entertaining... and yet...

Getting back on track

I have to admit, I took a huge break from this series because 4 of the last 7 books have been mostly filler.... I was very disappointed. Sean (the narrator) is always on point, but I almost feel bad for him having to read the aforementioned 4 books (especially Dogs of War which had no storyline value). But I digress... Yep, you can see by my review I have the Mark Tufo attention span (plus the military mindset/background).
So in conclusion, if you wanted to quit on the series, don't quite yet.
Check back in 24-48 hours for my review of the next book... I'm hoping to enjoy it as much as I did this one!
BTW Mark if you read this, thanks for putting this series out, it kept me going during some bad times in the sandbox.

Skynet meets EMP
On a scale of 1-1000 this book gets a 999. The only point that I deducted was for the irrelevant space station stuff. Other than that, it was a great relief from the typical EMP stuff.

if you read the first 2 books skip this one!!! it's the same story told over again including the long a$$ "banned items list" from book 1. the only difference is that this book is more religious recruiting than the first 2. It's like a priest read the first 2 books and retold the story
