Unlike Comparative Religion (the study of different world religions), this audiobook is about religion in general, such as what purpose it serves in society and why people would believe in the dogma of a religion.

Much of the information is familiar (eat whole foods, exercise 30 minutes daily, get plenty of sleep, and minimize exposure to chemicals through the use of body and hair products). A key point that the author makes repeatedly is to develop an awareness of your body. Instead of taking medication to treat the symptoms, address the stress factors in your life (yes, a toxic work environment could be giving you stomach problems), eat healthy, and get enough sleep to let your body recover.

For fans David Suchet as Hercule Poirot

David Suchet best exemplifies the character Hercule Poirot, and it was delightful to hear him bring the little Belgian detective to life in this audiobook. There were a couple of short stories that did not have Suchet as Poirot, and those stories seemed dull in comparison.

Tony Fadell started as an engineer and worked for several tech companies, including General Magic, Philips, Apple, and Nest Labs. In the first quarter of the book, the author talked about his career history (some interesting, some not). This book is targeted at potential entrepreneurs.

A Story Within A Story

The author Anthony Horowitz (reality) wrote about Alan Conway (fake reality), who wrote about Atticus Pünd (fiction). It's a story within a story, so there are a lot of characters to keep track of. It starts in fake reality, which is very confusing until you realize it's part of the story (and why Anthony Horowitz isn't the author of Atticus Pünd's mystery). I think the fiction could have stood on its own.

Fundamental Advice of Being a Manager

A manager working for a company in Silicon Valley has a lot more advantages than most managers, including resources, a support system, growth potential, and young, ambitious staff. If you're fortunate enough to work in such an environment, the author offers some fundamental advice on becoming a manager. Much of it is common sense, like practicing what you preach (asking for feedback before you suggest to your staff that they should ask for feedback) and, before reprimanding people about certain bad behaviors, identifying the incentives you have in place that encourage those behaviors (you ask your team to collaborate, but merit increases are based on individual accomplishments).

Generally Good Advice to Speak Up for Yourself

This book provided good advice on recognizing and stopping people-pleasing behaviors. While we bend over backward to be nice to others, we get taken advantage of and then spend too much time overthinking the situation and feeling resentful. The book is lengthy, and I don't agree with all of the content. For example, the author attributes his childhood debilitating chronic pains to repressed feelings. Being your true self doesn't free you from all your chronic pains (perhaps headaches and neck pains caused by stress).
