Story
In the southwestern desert, a mysterious cult prays for the return of the Visitors. Only one creature can derail that grand and glorious event: An evil entity, known as the Duad, can keep the Visitors from arriving and prevent the transfiguration to come. Daley, who lives nearby, has a far more serious problem: an alien consciousness that has taken up residence in her head.

Thanks again FPW. You never disappoint. Your stories have given me many years of enjoyment. This latest installment has only added to this pleasure. The promptness with which you have supplied the sequel is greatly appreciated. The narration is first rate. Kudos to the readers.

Story
Eons before the birth of the Roman Empire, there was a civilization dedicated to the sciences of Earth, sea, and sky. In the City of Light lived people who made dark plans to lay waste to their uncivilized neighbors using the very power of the planet itself. As the great science of their time was brought to bear on the invading hordes, hell was set loose on Earth. And the civilization of Atlantis disappeared in a suicidal storm of fire and water.… Now history threatens to repeat itself.

Story
John Birmingham is the master of alternate history adventure - and now he's mastered a new genre with the volcanically fast-paced and wildly inventive Dave Hooper urban fantasy series. The series is anchored by a thrilling high concept: An oil rig opens a rift deep in the ocean that unleashes terrifying monsters into the world. But perhaps its coolest asset is its hero, Dave Hooper, a tough, bleakly funny, down-on-his luck oil rig worker with an unlikely destiny as a monster-slayer and world savior.

Won't listen to any more Birmingham novels.

The author turned me off with the excessive and entirely unnecessary use of vulgarity. I found it fu**ing distracting to have the characters endlessly espouse the same fu**ing expletive over and over and over. I tried to get into the story but was defeated by the tiresome and grating incorporation of "fu**" or ""fu**ing" into the production every minute or two. I couldn't finish the book. Shame Mr. Birmingham. You could have done a whole f**ing lot better. You lost me and I hope other listeners won't waste their time with this poor fu**ing excuse for a story.

A lot of hype and anticipation for a really poor novel. This book is terrible on so many levels. Gideon is about as far from being a Pendergast as one might imagine. He comes off as a simpering ninny and the narrator makes hime sound like a whiny teenager. A nuclear scientist? Absurd. His occupation is also irrelevant to the story line. He could hold any job and be just as unbelievable. Please, Messers. Preston and Child don't give us any more of Gideon. Stick with your real winner, i.e., Pendergast, or lose many devoted readers.
