Story
Technically, there’s only one girl on this island that I’ve been told to stay away from. One. And she just showed up on my doorstep looking like a hooker at a ho parade. Why, you ask? Well, according to her, I’m the only one on Paradise Isle that can help her. The only. Fucking. One. Go figure. So what am I supposed to do? Turn her away and look like an asshole? This whole “being a good person thing” isn’t as easy as it’s cracked up to be. Bear with me, will you? I’m still learning the ropes.

Story
As a comedian and conservative thinker, whip-smart funny Tom Shillue grounds his ideas about our current culture and political climate in stories from his childhood. Growing up as one of five kids in a devout Irish Catholic family in a small town outside of Boston, Tom sincerely believes that the rough-and-tumble, rules-dominated world in which he came of age was a better America - a time and place that made him into the well-adjusted, happy, successful man he is today.

I loved this book! As a child of the 70’s, I remembered everything Tom talks about. But even if you didn’t grow up in that time period, it is still very entertaining. One of my favorite parts was the altar boy story, but they’re all great. Treat yourself to this book; you won’t regret it.

Story
Angels have been present since the beginning of time, yet we're filled with more intrigue and myth than with facts about these heavenly creatures. In this practical Q&A format, best-selling author and pastor Robert J. Morgan uncovers the mystery of angels - in the teachings of the Bible, in their role in relation to Christ, how they impact Christian beliefs, and in personal accounts of our present-day lives.

I really enjoyed this book. It was important to me that the author is a Bible scholar and keeps the references to biblical ones. If you’re curious about what angels are, what they do, and how they operate, all as explained in the Bible, you’ll enjoy this book.

Daniel T. Drunk, Jr. if you really wanna know. And I’m on a plane headed to Paradise Isle on the trip of a lifetime. The occasion? My honeymoon. Except, there’s only one problem. I’m riding solo. It’s a really long story, and if you don’t mind, I’d prefer to leave it at that. Really? You must know? Fine, I get it. You’re the nosey type. Here’s the abbreviated version. I came within an inch of marrying a cheating slut. There. Get the picture? Good.

Great intro book with fantastic narration
Reviewed: 10-31-19
I really enjoyed this book. It was funny from the start and sucked me in. The character’s last name is Drunk which makes for a lot of funny banter. Intro books always have to spend more time explaining the characters and setup, but this one got off to a fast start anyway and kept a great pace all the way through. Christopher Boucher was did a fantastic job narrating and really brought the characters to life. I would highly recommend!

So enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this mystery. It didn’t follow the standard format of waiting until the last chapter or two to pull off the big reveal. It was more complicated, and I don’t want to give out spoilers, but it has a very satisfying ending. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. And Amy Rubinstein is a fantastic reader and really brings the characters to life.

This is one of my favorite books this year (although it came out last year). It has a little bit of everything - it’s smart, funny, heart-breaking, heart-warming... and overall good read. Mary Robinette Kowal does a fantastic job reading it. She really brings the characters to life and also makes the writing even funnier in places with her brilliant delivery. I would highly recommend it.

The small village of Kilbane is hosting a poker tournament at the local pub, and card sharp Eamon Foley, a tinker out of Dublin, is set to win the tournament. But when Foley is found at the end of a rope, it’s time for the garda to take matters into their own hands. Macdara Flannery would lay odds it’s a simple suicide, but Siobhán suspects foul play, as does Foley’s pregnant widow.

I’ve been enjoying this series and this one is the best so far. I enjoy the involvement of the O’Sullivan family which makes this series unique. Carlene O’Connor adds in the perfect amount of comedic moments (the jewelry store scene had me laughing out loud) and the pace is just right. Caroline Lennon is an excellent narrator and really brings the characters to life. I would strongly recommend this book! (The books in this series can be read as stand-alone books but are more colorful if you read them in order.)

Having all of the short stories in one book is fantastic. I had always been a fan of the Bigfoot stories, but I have to say the winner in this book is the last story the Day at the Zoo. Worth the price of admission just for that one!

I really liked this book. It has a slower pace, but leads you down a lovely windy road to get through the plot. Cassandra’s narration is the bomb. She really made this book even more enjoyable than I could have imagined. I will definitely read more from this author and listen to more audiobooks read by Cassandra Campbell.

Not my favorite in the series...
Reviewed: 05-17-18
I would give this story 2 stars regarding the subplot of Maura meeting her mother, but 5 for the mystery so I settled in 4. Helen feels that she did ‘such a sorry thing’ to Maura’s life that she had to be successful herself. ???? So she’s a well-off businesswoman and wrote off Maura assuming that she turned into a “drug-addled hooker”. She never thought to find her or send money....And then she’s all smiles and roses .... it just didn’t flow or make logical sense. But the mystery was interesting as always, and Amy Rubinate continues to do a great job.
