Great book, great male voice, lousy female voice
Reviewed: 02-17-24
The female narrator sounds like a commercial voiceover actress. Her over pronunciation on every single word is exhausting, and takes away from many climactic moments. She’s 100% dreadful. Otherwise, a great read!

Actor becomes so invested in his breakout career role that he embodies the killer he is portraying on screen. This is the book synopsis, but there's more here. Story does a good job with all the other characters, the devolution of the MC and the resolution. Easy, fast story that kept me entertained. Wonderful voices. See if you can identify Lou without looking her up. ;) Recommend.

The nex-et bahdee of worKK to be ex-eck-you-teddd... thatt was fu-kneee.
I think this might possibly be the very worst narrator I've ever listened to. Poor Tracy, their novel was butchered in this recording.

Many times, I envisioned this book unfolding like a movie. Some interesting characters. I particularly liked the fight scenes, and they were described very well with specific terms that martial arts junkies might appreciate. The story line and concept is 'interesting. A great listen during my boring drive.

What disappointed you about Personal Success Made Simple?
The narrator sounds like he has excessive saliva in his mouth. He keeps swallowing. It is so distracting I couldn't listen after ten minutes.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Brian Tracy?
Anyone would have been a better narrator. My 9-year-old would have done a better job.

Ugh, made myself keep going but had to stop
Reviewed: 07-11-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who likes fake accents and over-articulation.
What could Elizabeth Strout have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I think the book might have been okay, I really couldn't focus on it. I originally had this as a physical book and then decided to listen to it. I should have stuck with *reading* it. Having said that, the story wasn't captivating enough for me to keep with it despite the performance, so I suppose that says something about the book itself.
How could the performance have been better?
A different narrator.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Annoyance.
